I have a TX1000. Computer does not detect my pen when I hover over the screen, it doesn't detect pressure sensitivity either. When I remove the option to use my finger as input, the touch screen doesn't work at all. Basically, My touch screen works, but it doesn't detect the pen when I use it, it detects it as if something is pressing the screen but it is not the pen. I used the Recovery Manager to reinstall the wacom driver with no imrovement.
PS. I also tried using the eraser tip of the pen in photoshop, but it draws with it instead. Basically, the pen is totally useless now, the pc doesnt detect that it is the pen touching at all.
What is the problem? Do I need to get a new pen? Do I need to reinstall some drivers?

Have you tried pulling the nib out (the end bit you draw with)? It could be that something is sticking the nib further inside the pen than it should, which is telling the pen you are applying pressure. As far as I know there is a little spring inside the pen that the nib pushes on when you touch the pen to the tablet. Perhaps the spring is permanently squished in.
Go to Control Panel, and open bamboo properties. There you select the "pen" tab. In the pen tab you will see tracking. Select pen mode and details. You can map the pad there. After mapping pen mode try it in mouse mode as well. Best of luck!
You need to recalibrate. Try pushing B, A, Hint, and Home when you turn it on. Do not have a cartridge in the player or it will think it is a regular Leapster. Once it says calibrate screen it will say to press A, then wait until a target appears in the upper left hand corner, touch it and you should hear a sound, then a new target appears in the lower left hand, repeat actions, then lower right hand screen, and finally the upper right hand screen. If it stops at any time and doesn't get more arrows, try it again or turn it off and see if the pen works. It may take a few tries to get it to recalibrate correctly.
The tablet is not a touch-resistive tablet. It's actually using magnets to detect the pen (you can't really use other pens with it). It will always detect it when you hover because that's how it works.
I think the pen has gone bad on you, since your screen can still detect your hand and the track pad. I would think the pen is faulty. Try another pen cause I think your original is bad, if it was the touch feature that wasn't working I would say its a driver problem but that feature still works with the exception of the pen. Get another pen.
ya, i had teh same problem ... i had recenlty downloaded "pen attention" its a software that some guy made to make the pen curser look bigger in one note ... i uninstalled this program and now the problem is gone!!! so just make sure that you delete any programs that you have downloaded tht might be interfeering the the tablet's performance (especilaly programs or addons that my have been developed by non-wacom personelle for the tablet)
