One way to show your ipod touch in my computer is next: connect to internet through safari, save a random image from any web site to your ipod touch by holding your finger on the preferred image until a save image option appears, save the image. now connect your ipod and woila!

There's a program called TouchCopy http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/ that you can use to access your iPod Touch as a drive.

If you have a mac, then the iPod Touch does appear as a drive, I learned this when I took mine to the Apple store for some problems I was having and they told me it works on macs, but not PC's. Typical.

There may be other programs similar to TouchCopy that are free if you look.

The new iPods are using flash drives inside so now the new iTunes will only recognize the iPod Touch and the old iPods use HARD DRIVES! So just remember that there are no disk mode in the new iPods!

Hope this helps!

The Solution #2 is correct because Ipod nanos all have flash memories but you can still view them through the "my computer" app so it must be true then that the new ipod touch CANNOT be viewed through "my computer"... my guess would be that the softwear available to take information from broken down ipod harddrives is also being used to steal/share music with other ipods... and since that would take business away from itunes they made sure that it wouldnt keep happening...

this is what i think... this is no BS

I found this solution to work. Try this first:
a) Get Windows to restart the drivers:
- disconnect your USB device and close ITunes
- connect your USB device
- if ITunes loads, close it.

b) File explorer:
Open File explorer and browse to
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
In that folder there should be a set of files named "usbaapl64...."
right click on the one ending in "INF"
Select Install. It's very quick.
remove the USB device

c) Restart the computer.
When you login again, load ITunes before you attach your USB device.
d) If still not works, try re-install iTunes. Go into the Unstall Programs (in Control Panel) and uninstall everything that says Apple, and uninstall Bonjour. With the fresh install of iTunes, everything came back and is should work. Hope it helps.

f) If you just want to add some photos, songs and movies from computer to your devices, you can use an iTunes alternative to do the job.

Screen shows usb and Itunes but computer doesnt recognize ipod.

1. Verify if your pc passes the system requirements.
(a) usb 2.0 port
(b) You are running the latest version of itunes

2. Recharge your iPod Touch

3. Check USB connections. Use a USB port that is built into the computer instead of using an external usb hub.

4. Restart iPod Touch. Do the following steps: To restart iPod touch, first turn iPod touch off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPod touch will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPod touch on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Is iPod touch not responding? To reset iPod touch, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

5. Restart your computer then reconnect your iPod Touch

6. Try reinstalling iTunes. And if this doesn't resolve the issue, you can also try uninstalling iTunes then reinstalling the latest version.

7. Check if there are third-party software that might prevent iTunes from recognizing your iPod touch. Such software may be security software, anti-virus software and webcam drivers. What you can do is adjust the software settings or you may also temporarily disable the software.

My ipod touch 4 wont work! it shows the # symbols (usb, arrow, itunes), and it doesnt do anything else! pleaseeeee help! Thanks.

You must have bought a new iPod!
The screen is simply telling you to connect your iPod to your computer. (You should have iTunes already installed, if not you can download it, and install it for free from the Apple website).
Once it is connected, iTunes will pop up, and the rest of the set up will be simple!

My windows dosent reconize my ipod touch. when i plug it into my usb port it shows scanner and camera wizard

That means, your computer recognizes your iPod. But if what you're saying is that, iTunes doesn't open when you plug your iPod touch to the computer, it really won't, unless you selected the option "Automatically sync when this iPod touch is connected" from Device window in iTunes.

Also, make sure first that you have the latest iTunes installed in your computer. You can download it here. If iTunes is alreaady installed in your computer, simply open it and you'll find your iPod touch on the side column under Devices.

My ipod says connect to itunes.

To guest, yes it does.

unfortunately you will have to restore your ipod. Just connect it to your computer, and within itunes select the restore option on the ipod page.

The ipod should be able to be restored by the computer that last synced it.

Otherwise, try to restore your ipod via DFU mode. Here is a great step by step guide to do that. http://iphonefreakz.com/beginners-guide/howto-dfu-mode/

I hope this helps,
