SOURCE: Bosch dishwasher turns on but doesn't fill with water and start washing

There is a float in the dishwasher that sometimes gets stuck and when that happens, the washer will not fill. Look for a (mostly round) upright part that will be in the front of the washer either on the left or right side. That is the float and it could be stuck in the cutoff position (caused by the soap). The older models have it on the same side where the soap is placed. The newer models have it on the opposite side to stop that exact problem. MOve it up and down and clean out any dried caked soap that might be under it.

No water getting to dishwasher

First is to see if water is getting to the dishwasher.
Locate the fill hose which should be under the sink along side the dishwasher.
After shutting off the water, disconnect the hose and see if you have good water pressure into the fill hose by turning it back on into a bucket.
Let's say you do.
Now locate the valve at the dishwasher where that hose is connected to it.
That valve is usually under the dishwasher at the very rear, usually on the left.
That solenoid/valve has the fill hose, two wires, and a small (usually black) hose going from it up to the machine itself.
You'll need to see if that valve is getting electricity when it should be filling the machine.
There are two wires to the valve.
They should likely be getting 110 volts when the dishwasher is supposed to be filling.
If they are, the valve may be bad, if they are not, likely is a problen with the timer itself.

Switch dishwasher on and starts up ok but when it comes to pumping water in it stops and does not do anything else.

Hello

Investigate these five areas if your dishwasher won't fill with water:

As water is filling your dishwasher, a float rises along with it. When the float reaches a predetermined level, it shuts off the flow of water, thereby preventing a leak. Sometimes the float can get stuck in the wrong position in your dishwasher, and it can prevent your dishwasher from filling. Check your float assembly. Replace it if you need to.

The water that fills your dishwasher lifts the float, and when it reaches a certain level, it acts as a trigger for the float switch. The float triggers the float switch to shut off, thereby shutting off the flow of water into the dishwasher. A defective switch may interfere with your dishwasher's filling ability.

Your dishwasher may not be filling with water simply because the water valve's filter screens are dirty and debris-filled. Gain access to your water inlet valve and try cleaning it out. This might be enough to solve the problem. You can learn how to access your water inlet valve in the replace a dishwasher water inlet valve section.

Alternatively, your water inlet valve could be defective altogether. That could be the reason your dishwasher is not filling. Test it for continuity. If it is not functioning as it should, replace it.

Your dishwasher's drain valve is regulated by a drain solenoid. If the solenoid is malfunctioning, it may not allow the drain valve to funtion properly, which in turn could be the reason your dishwasher is not filling with water. Investigate your drain valve and test the solenoid. If the solenoid is faulty, replace it.

Dishwasher won't fill on start

Check the following to address this issue.

Make sure you get water to the dishwasher. Check to see if the water shut-off valve (located under the sink) is open. If you get water to the dishwasher, but there is still no water inside during the fill cycle, the problem might be with a faulty water valve (located at the bottom of the dishwasher, behind the kick panel, on either side), in which case replace the water valve.

My dishwasher seems to start ok then the first light starts flashing and it do'es nothing just stays there any ideads what my problem is

Can you tell if it's filling with water. The first thing it does is fill with water (usually on a timed cycle) before the pump starts. If there's no water in the tub, it obviously won't wash dishes, since a dishwasher is nothing more than an enclosed pressure washer. If it does not fill with water, you may have a bad fill valve or the timer that turns the fill valve on may be defective. You DO have the water turned on, RIGHT?

My bosch dishwasher does not fill with water (although it drains)

most bosch have the inlet valve at the end of the fill pipe and it has an anti-flood device.
try turning off the water, take off the fill pipe then reconnect it and see if this works.
taking off the fill pipe resets the anti-flood device
