HP LaserJet 9050dn. When printing to Tray 1 (manual feed), often the first few pieces will be grabbed by the rollers but a random subsequent piece will not, which gets pulled in about 3-4 inches and then the printer indicates a paper jam. The piece that doesn't go all the way through is not stuck in any way, just loosely inserted a few inches in. The door must be opened and closed at this point to resume normal operations. The three rollers in front behind the plastic removable guard are in good (new) condition. This occurs with many media types such as: envelopes, letter, label, preprint.

hp printers typically do not have an error message to cover every known condition, thus if the printer needs maintenance in an undefined area, it will invariably indicate a paper jam. The printer usually responds to the installation of a maintenance kit which will include transfer roller, pickup rollers, and fuser.

Hello,
You may need to obtain the HP Paper Feed Cleaning Kit from Customer Service by contacting them here. While your speaking with them you may want to ask about any issue that have came up with your particular model because I have read they have replaced some models that were even out of warranty.
To use:
It seems that by what Im reading, this is mostly caused by a dried out roller (especially if they are grey so you also may have some other options:
NOTE: These options may void warranty.
Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

SOURCE: label sheets won't feed, jam
1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button. (On the X83, press the Select button.)
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.
If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.
good luck..
SOURCE: HP laserjet 5500dn paper jam at fuser
Hi,
I was able to fix my problem. On the left side of the fuser assembly there are two small plastic tabs or flags that move up & down. One is attached to the plastic rod/flap that you can see from the top of the fuser and moves when the paper comes out of the "chute". The other tab, which is below the first tab and moves when the paper has passed some point in the fuser, was broken off. I glued the tab back on and now the paper is ejected from the printer like it is suppose to.
I'm thinking that the broken tab was part of a page sensor flag that would tell the printer to stop rolling the fuser assembly when the paper was ejected. Without the flag, the sensor would disengage the fuser prematurely and stop ejecting the paper while the paper was still in the fuser.

Usually answered in minutes!
It turns out that the two rollers on the door that pinch the media were of the wrong type. I used normal tray rollers which are more compact. The rollers that should be used come in the extended maintenance package and are more spongy.
It is solved......Great......
