RCA Model f36665 Guide series 36" TV

This television is 7 years old. It lost the sound when it was about 4 or 5 years old. They say that it can not be fixed. There is no sound at all, but the picture is perfect.

Do you know of any fix for it? I can do minor repairs, nothing major. Thanks.

I have the same problem with my set. It would lose sound once in a while. I simply unplug the TV when the power is on and plug it back it. I get my sound back. It's worked every time to far. I have a 36" F36676.

Who said it cannot be fixed? You can try and hook an external speaker to wires and test for sound. Maybe audio outs have sound?

well u have a problem in the audio circuits of the tv which includes the speaker itself. but most of the time the audio power output transistor or ic get easily damaged resulting a no sound tv. if u dont have any idea with regards to this, i suggest have it check with a qualified service technician. it will not cost u a lot for sure.

TV will not turn on when power button is pushed.

check the main fuse in the tv. test it with a multimeter, not visually. if its the thermistor that blew the fuse, it is very difficult to see the break in the wire. replace if blown. if unit blown fuse again withing a couple of weeks replace the thermistor in the degausing circuit. good luck.
