Scanner program when pressing scan on printer it ask me a file to open scan with

SOURCE: problem with canon printer/scanner

You need to load the s/w that came with the printer on the computer that it is connected to. The computer needs to be turned on for the scanner to work. When you press the scan button the scan program will open on the computer montior and you can save the image from there.

If you have other software like Adobe photoshop you can choose your Canon scanner from the Import settting under the file menu.

SOURCE: Scanner will not scan to certain programs

Try reinstallying the printer driver, but first remove the printer program.  Then, reinstall everything and try it again.  Unplug and plug the printer in.

SOURCE: Link Scanned Image - Error Message on Canon CanoScan 500F

"Link Scanned images to..." refers to the programme you want to open the file. Navigate to the .exe of your preferred viewer

SOURCE: my canon mp560 won't scan

Hi,
Had same problem. I went into control panel and then Devices and Printers and then right clicked the MP560 printer. You'll find a "start scan" option there. Click on it. It works for me, even though my printer still won't scan using the buttons on it...

lift the lid on your scanner lay the photo face down then select scan document/photo it will ask what format you want to scan it then it will ask where you want to save it and what format browse select the file/folder where you want to save it (my pictures) most common

Scan to email
  1. Place the document that is going to be scanned face down on the scanner. Press the "Scan" button that can be located on the scanner. Another way to perform a scan is to click on "Start," then go to "All Programs." Move the mouse pointer up to "Accessories." Go down to "Scanner and Camera Wizard."

  2. Click on "Scanner and Camera Wizard." Click "Next." You will be asked to choose a preference. Choose a preference, then click on "Preview" to preview the document.

  3. Click on "Next" after previewing. Type a picture name and the destination where you want to save it. Click on "Next." The document will start to scan. Click "Finish" to complete the scan.

  4. Go to your email account. Click "Compose" to start a new email. Look for "Attach File" and click on the "Browse" button across from it. The "Choose File" window will open up.

  5. Go to the destination where you saved the scanned document. Choose the name of the scanned document. Click on it to open up the file, then click on "Open."

  6. Add the necessary information in the subject line and the body of the email. Click on "Send" to complete the process. The document will be sent as an attachment file.

I have scanner LEXMARK X2690 How can I use it to scan a file?
Follow this steps on how to scan docs/files
> open the top cover, load original document facedown on the scanner glass.
>close the top cover to avoid dark edges on the scanned docs
> Make sure printer is connected to computer and both printer and computer is on.
> From the printer control panel press scan
> Follow the instructions in computer screen.
If u are using Windows
> Repeat 1 and 2 on top instructions,
Do one of the following;
> In windows vista click select all programs and then select the printer program folder from lists.
> In Windows XP click start Programs or all programs and then select the printer program folder from the list.
> Click Lexmark Productivity Studio
> On the main screen click scan
> follow the instructions on the screen..

When i press the scan button , nothing happens at all ,, please help i need to scan photos
The scan button requires proper setting of the program on the computer that tracks the state of that button.
Reinstall drivers (full installation).
Why not open My Computer, find the icon of the scanner and scan using Microsoft scanner or camera wizard?
You can also open MS Paint and scan using File / From scanner or camera.

How do i scan documents so I can email them?
just place your paper document in the scanner, cover it, then press the SCAN button in your scanner device. Another way to do it is to open your scanner program installed with your printer. Then make sure to "Scan to File" so that you can save your scanned document to file and attach to emails or whatever.

Open your Adobe Acrobat (e.g., 9.0 Pro), load your pages into the document feeder (fewer than 30 at a time), then ask Adobe Acrobat to create PDF from scanner (File/Create PDF/From Scanner). Canon MP530 as the scanner and click OK. Works like a charm!

Thank you for allowing me to assist you in this question. Below is some basic information on how to scan with this printer. The Kodak Home Center software will save the file into a directory into your computer and you can use your email program to attach that file into your emails.

To scan to a file
1 Set the Default scan destination to File with the Kodak Home Center software.
2 Place your original face down in the right front corner of the scanner glass.
3 Press Scan.
4 Press Start. The original is scanned and saved to a file on your computer according to the scan settings in the Kodak Home Center software.
To scan to an application
1 Set the Default scan destination to Application with the Kodak Home Center software.
2 Place your original face down in the right front corner of the scanner glass.
3 Press Scan.
4 Press Start. The original is scanned into Kodak Home Center where you can open it with the application of your choice.

I can't scan
When scanning documents on my MFC 7420, this is what I do. Place document on th scanner bed and don't press any buttons, leave it whatever mode it is in. Go to the computer and click on start> program files> scansoft paperport> open paperport se. When paperport is open click on the scan icon in the upper left corner. A dialog box on the left hand side will ask what you want to scan a picture or document. Select accordingly and press the scan icon.
A new window will pop up and ask what you want to scan and the size. You can either select pre scan or scan. The computer then will send a scan request to the scanner. When it is done scanning close the second window that popped up and the document that you just scanned will be there with a red box around it. Click on the document and it will open, then you can edit and save as needed.

Scanning on sharp AR-168D copier, printer, scanner
Check your default program for .tif files by going into my computer and finding a tif file. Move the mouse over to the file and press the right mouse button and select properties. Check the opens with icon to see which program it is using. If it isn't set for Microsoft Word, press the change with button and select Microsoft Word. Press the Ok button.

Your tif files should open with Word.
