After 3 seconds the red service light flashes and the drill stops and buzzes. Release trigger and press again the drill works again for 3 secs the light flashes again & stops. Not brushes I have replaced them I have also replaced control unit and checked operation of all switches. Does the control module monitor armature speed and could wrong speed be cause of problem? Although for each 3 second operation drill sounds to be operating normally.
SOURCE: Dewalt demo hammer, when switched on the motor speed surges up and down constantly. What is wrong?
Check the brushes first. If they are worn or sticking they could cause this.
If the brushes are fine and not worn down then it is most likely the electronics/ variable speed module.
