Jack up and put jack stands for safety or drive up ramps. Start engine and find whats rattling. You can use the back side of a hammer and hold against exhaust shield to see if the rattle stops when you put it against it. If it is a shield you can get large dryer clamps and put them together and go around shield and tighten, that will stop rattle without replacing shield. Make sure you let exhaust cool before you try and clamp.
Yes, Did you buy it new? It has two heavy plastic seen through plate that
are attached to each other. This safety shield is gravity fed. That mean as one
pull down the saw the safety guard will pivot into the upper shield. As the saw
go back up after cutting a piece of wood. The safety shield will drop back into
it safety position covering the 12" blade. GB...stewbsion
EMERSON MICROWAVE-IF THE SHIELD (METALLIC CARDBOARD THEY CALL SPLATTER SHIELD) IS BURNT OR HAS BLACK SPOTS THROW THE MICROWAVE AWAY. MY SHIELD CAUGHT ON FIRE. MICROWAVE ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. DON'T BUY EMERSON.
The foot control you use should be readily available at any sewing machine parts supply source. There are models that range in USD from $35.00 to 69.00 for the replacement foot control.
I would look in the yellow pages under sewing machines and parts for a local replacement source not being concerned about brand name when it comes to a foot control other than like connections.
