When I record anything my viewfinder and LCD screen remain black and there is a red Icon continuously flashing and I notice that the Digital Effects won't turn on at all. But yet on the LCD screen it tells me I'm recording. What do you think the problem is and will it be costly to get it fixed?

I have a RCA CCD415 CAMCORDER. The record light comes on however in the LCD viewfinder window it is light up however there is no picture on record or playback. Aklso activating the time and date does not appear in the window. Got any ideas?

I also had the same problem, Cannon MV700i only recording sound. The veiwfinder, LCD sceen blank, VCR playback working fine. Contacted Plymcare by phone, they were very helpfull. They explained Cannon were aware of the problem and providing problem was ccd, would repair free of charge, as they bill Cannon. Posted the camcorder (over 4 yrs old) by special next day delivery and returned 3 days later, fully repaired. The only cost incurred was postage to Plymcare ( i paid just over £6 ).

There is a well known, but little publicised problem with CCDs on many cameras. Ther was a manufacturing problem in the components. Visit the Canon web site and look up the problem. They will tell you where to send it for free repair
