Bmw c43 head unit faulty cd function

The head unit tape/cd button only recognizes tape function and cassette works fine. Pushing the button over and over, it will not say cd....no cd error...nothing....just stays on tape. Seems like a short has developed without warning....Used to work consistently fine, then "poof"....tape only....Any ideas??? Thanks, [email protected]

Dont know Steve, i am no fundi with electronics but could it be that your system is set up for the steering remote, or perhaps not activating because of a wiring or button contact issue ?
Hope you get it sorted out.
Richard.

SOURCE: cd error message on head unit on alpine r990,this

Hi John, when you think about it, it could only be one of two things either the bus lead or the RCAlead as everything is in them leads to run the cd unit, So check that all leads are secure to see what happens.

SOURCE: when i want to change from radio to cd function on

try pressing the reset switch or disconnecting power to the radio for a few minutes. sometimes jumping the battery sends a voltage spike to the radio and locks up the microprocessor.

I have had my 1991 lexus ls400 for a couple years now and I've been using the cassette deck in the stock stereo unit all the time by using one of those cassettes with the 3.5mm headset wires coming out...

The tape deck in the unit probably needs to be fixed. Even though you are using an artificial tape supplying a signal to the heads, there are still motors and belts running in the unit if it thinks a tape is in there. Now a belt or a motor has failed and the deck will not stay in tape mode. Thus pulling the unit out of the dash and having it serviced will be required to use this I pod function. There has to be easier ways to do this- I would consult Crutchfield about it.

Where is the button on the radio to turn on the cd player which is in the trunk

Let's see, the 98 still had a cassette player in the head unit correct?
There should be a button toward the top, far right, that says Tape/CD.
If the CD player has been disconnected, it may be necessary to 'reboot' the system to get the head unit to sync up with the CD player. Disconnecting the battery is the simplest way, but you will have to reset the anti-theft code in the radio and reprogram various memories (seats, etc) if you disconnect the battery.

JVC Boomblaster RVB90 has problems to start after shut down.

If you have a cassette tape in the Kaboom take it out close the casstte door and lock it. See if the problem continues. The cassette circuitry has been known to cause alot of prolems like yours. I think it has to do with sensors.

My 1995 bmw 318i won't eject a tape and the tape keeps changing from side 1 to side 2 and won't stop. I don't have any music in my car now since the only way to change it to radio is to eject the tape

Just a thought. try pushing the eject button holding it down & with a small pair of pliers carefully lift the tape & pull it out. Tape player heads could be dirty, eject button sticking or faulty or the player is done its time. Good luck

Reinsert cassette

Turn the unit off and hit the back of the camera twice near the battery compartment with the palm of your hand. Sounds crazy but it worked with my camcorder Sony DCR-TRV480. Problem started when I used 8MM Head Cleaner. I think the roller got stuck inside camcorder. The trouble code came up C:31:22. Hope this helps.
