How do i turn the internal flash on - Pentax *ist DL Digital Camera

I would first: Check the test button on the flash - if all is good (and light flashes when button pushed), then
second: switch camera AND flash to manual mode and with flash attached, hit shutter release. flash should pop.
if all is good, I would use manual settings to set exposure for room I am in (yes, indoors) - and then flash again. Flash should go off on attached strobe (not internal flash).
If yes - then I would move camera to an auto mode and repeat. If not - then I would check settings to find out whether I have turned off hot shoe or hot shoe is otherwise blocked from completing electrical circuit. If the camera is relatively new, consider re setting to factory settings.

Hello, If the flash unit has not been turned off then it is an internal problem that will require a repair. The other solution would be adding an external flash unit that has a plate that mounts to the tripod adapter which will be much cheaper than an internal repair.

That is indicating a internal defect. It's likely you will require a shop repair. Contact the manufacturer with the model number and ask for a referral. The flashing lights indicate that the television is telling you there is a failure someplace in the internal circuitry.

It shows protect when it senses a problem with the output wires shorted or some internal fault. Try disconnecting all the speaker wires and power up again. If it still shows protect, then the fault is internal.

Your camera should automatically recognise when a memory card is inserted and store pictures on to that rather than use the internal memory. The internal memory is only used when no card is inserted so possibly there is a fault with the card connections if it does not recognise when it is inserted.

The TV is trying to go on protect mode because an internal fault had been detected. For that reson the protection circuit keeps turning off TV continuously.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

Also ensure that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending bad signal, check if you get same problem with no receiver box or dvd connected.

If that does not work, and you keep having a flashing led on front of the TV, and tv turning off by itself after a while, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible reasons.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , startingthe flashing light.


If you are in situation one, then theTV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours,sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occur are a blown capacitor on power board, a convergence IC has blown, or a fault on Digital board.

Check also the video cable or any external connection cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.


If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

Turn off the camera and remove the batteries. Then try to close the flash by pushing it down lightly. If it still won't remain closed, your camera is faulty and you should bring it back for a repair/replace.

If all the lights are flashing on your printer when you power it on, that means an internal error has occured.

please go to manual mode and then enable the flash.

if it not works there are two reasons
both internal

either the flash bulb has blown.
else the control signal is not reaching and hence get it serviced.

First, some clarity:

What do you mean by "flash bulb has gone"? Is the internal flash not working any more?

What do you mean by "onboard flash won't catch"? Do you mean that the internal (pop-up) flash doesn't work?

Is it possible that you have the flash turned off completely?
