the thread is too long, so you have to remove the top, screws (x2) on either side, then unscrew the lift reel (black disc) from the red twister (on top where figures feet fits into). Take lift to top of run until it comes off runners, pull two halves apart and trim thread behind knot to shorten to required length), retie knot and re assemble.
I worked for Fisher Price as a model make for many years. I am since retired and don't remember this toy. There is probably no way you can fix it your self. Call them @ 716 687-3300 and they will direct you to consumer affairs. You will more than likely have to send it back and they will replace with a new one.Hope this helps.
I Replaced the batteries in the dinosaur, because mine did that after only a few hours. when the batteries start to die, only the demo switch works...
