Hi Ken, The link below is a youtube video showing how to connect your laptop to the WiFi, Also There's videos down the right side of the link that may help as well...........CHEERS.. How to connect your Laptop to Wifi
Sounds like your hardware WIFI card has failed inside the laptop. The easiest thing to do would be to get an external PCMCIA or USB WIFI card. Many of them are available for under $15.00 on ebay.
I would suggest a PCMCIA WIFI card which will leave your usb ports free.
You can check with ACER to find out what a new wifi card would cost and if they have any manuals to show how to replace it. I have had many laptops pulled apart and it is much more difficult to replace internal cards and parts than on a desktop.
Below is a link to an ebay page with laptop WIFI cards auction listings.
I hope that this information .helpful and will leave positive feedback for me if you do.
Having gone so far, I think the next thing you should do now is to get to the wireless properties and then assign an IP Address, Subnet mask and the Default Gateway for the Internet and you will be amazed to be connected. If you have not disabled and enabled the wireless device you may do that before proceeding to the step above. The pc should be restarted after the exercise ok. Good luck
Your problem description is too brief, but try the following:
- Check if your wifi is turned on (there should be a button on your laptop) - Check if your external wifi (usb stick, or whatever you have) is installed properly - Check your IP address, if its in the same IP-range as your router's - Check your gateway IP - If you have access reset your router
It should work so far by now, if not:
- Switch to roaming mode - Try to connect your laptop through an ethernet cable, if it works find out those settings (IP, gateway etc.) and use them with your wifi thing.
If this doesn't help, there is either a problem with your router or the network must be secured.
check your laptop wifi , are you sure that is on, search wifi , you must saw wifi ap in your windows, so click connect with wifi that is choose, if your set is in automatic ip gateway and dns server , you must take on your dhcp mode in your router, if itsn set your ip in permanen value
