Yesterday the refrigerator was working perfectly and suddenly last night it went off. it is only about 5 years old. dont know what happened
Unplug the refrigerator for ten minutes then plug it back in. If it starts to cool you need a new control board.

Sounds like the relay (start device) on the compressor has failed. This is a very common problem especially for models that are 3-5 yrs old. I would replace that first.

check the thermastat with power off remove one wire on the thermastat and read across the two terminals of the thermastat with an ohm or resistance meter if set to highest setting on the thermastat you should get a resistance reading if you don not the thermastat is vad
