Mitsubishi wd-65831 Tv displays warning message that tv will shut off in a few seconds due to possilble air blockage. Tv is less than 1 year old, is not overheating and there is no dust build up or air blockage and has good ventilation. Have tried vacuuming the vents, still having the problem. This seems to be spiratic and can go for days with no problem and then the message and shut off happens again. The reset button sometimes clears the problem.

Fan noise running when tv is on

Mitsubishi rear projection DLP keeps turning off and shutting down. The red light then turns on for a while and then turns off. TV can be turned on again and works fine until a random shutdown occurs again. No fault codes are stored. No blink codes. No airflow warning messages. The original thermal sensor was replaced 8-1/2 years ago. Fans are completely clean and running smoothly. I fixed this problem by replacing the 8.5-year-old thermal sensor. The problem is gone. Mitsubishi thermal sensor part number 299P313010A. Manufacturer part number YS11A95B-C6. Do not use the connector plug. Strip the wires, and hard wire and solder the 2 connections. This might also apply to these models: WD-52631, WD-57731, WD-57732, WD-65732, WD-57831, WD-65831, WD-Y57, WD-Y65

Air flow vent is blocked, tv keeps shutting down, mitsubishi ws-55615, how to fix ?

Mitsubishi's product line includes a wide array of LCD, Flat Panel, and DLP televisions to suit your home entertainment needs. The electronics division has the distinction of inventing the first rear-projection television and selling the very first HDTV in America. Their 400,000 square foot manufacturing facility, located in Irvine, CA, boasts the ability to produce more than 1,000 projection TV's in one day. The company's oft-stated goal of unmatched excellence is driven by their mantra: "Technically, anything is possible." In June, 2008, Mitsubishi introduced a new premium flat panel TV with an integrated 16-speaker sound projector.
Warranty Information
There is in-home service on all big screen models, which have warranties of 30 days for screens and one year for parts and labor. The LCD televisions have a one year warranty on parts and one year on labor with carry-in service. For plasma sets, in-home service is available on all models. There is a one year warranty on parts and one year on labor. The faulty thermal sensor, mentioned in the commmon repairs section, is now covered by an extended 2 year warranty, as is the problem related to the optical engine.
Common Repairs
For the following models: WD-52631, WD-57731, WD-65731, WD-Y57, WD-Y65, WD-57732, WD-65732, WD-57831, WD-65831, the most common repair problem stems from television shutting off almost immediately after it has been turned on accompanied by the message, "TV will shut down in a few seconds. Please check if the air flow is blocked." According to the Mitsubishi website, this issue is caused by a loose connection as a result of a faulty thermal sensor. For models: WD-73727, WD-73827, WD-73927, WD-73732, WD-7383, the most encountered repair problem has been in relation to the optical engine. Another common situation consumers have encountered is failure of the TV to turn on along with unceasing flashing of the green power light. The solution for this problem, caused by the DM board, will vary by repairman. Consumers have also encountered issues with moving vertical or horizontal lines appearing on the screen which can either be due to problems with the capacitor, light engine, or formatter board.

My tv keeps shutting down when I turn on. The message on the the TV screen said that "the TV will be shutting down in a few minutes". I resit the lamp in the back of the TV and the TV works after I reset...

The first would be excessive dust causing inadequate airflow through the lamp cage. Cleaning the filter may resolve the problem.

It could also be that one, or both, of the temperature sensors could be defective. This is a known problem to the extent that Mitsubishi extended the warranty an extra two years on your model and similar models with the same design.

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc (MDEA) 2006 DLP® Projection Televisions Models: WD-52631, WD-57731, WD-65731, WD-Y57, WD-Y65, WD-57732, WD- 65732, WD-57831, WD-65831.
As part of our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, MDEA is announcing an extension of the warranty coverage to replace the thermal sensor for the above referenced models. For a period of two additional years beyond the one year limited warranty, MDEA will cover the cost of the thermal sensor (parts and labor) at no charge. All other terms of the MDEA limited warranty will continue to apply.

Have a mitsu wd-52631 - get message "tv will shut down in a few seconds - chk for air flow blockage" then shuts down - wil turn on after sit for several hours. No blockage evident.

Well....the reason you are getting an "airflow message" is that there is a thermal sensor on the BACK of the lamp cage, and the connections on it get to be "intermittent" after awhile...and when this happens...the computer thinks that the lamp is overheating due to a dirty filter or fan--and shuts down the set.

It is a small, white plastic sensor, with 2 wires on it, that go to a connector and it has a black and red wire(usually) in a twisted pair that connects to the sensor connector. The connectors need to be REMOVED and the sensor HARD-WIRED (directly connected to) the other pair of wires. IF you have done some electrical work before...this is easy. You only need about 3" of spare wire to patch in between the sensor and the other connector, after you cut the connectors off. BUT...if you do NOT have repair experience...I suggest you call a COMPETENT, FAIR tv shop in your area, if you do not have a service plan...and tell them you have a mits. set that needs the "airflow sensor problem" repaired . this CAN be done -in-home, in about an hour or less, and for under 300, including service call.

TV turns off because of air flow

It is probably a bad temp sensor inside the TV. My 73" started shutting down before it was a year old. I moved it way out from the wall and it got a little better. A tech was just out to change the bulb under an extended warranty and he said there is a service bulletin about the temp sensor. If your TV is out of warranty you might call Mits and see if they will cover the sensor replacement. Tech said it takes about a 1/2 hour in the home to change it...

Error Message

If the set is only 3 1/2 months old, you should still have warranty coverage. Opening up the unit will void the warranty, so don't open up the set. Call for warranty service. In all probability, the air flow sensor is defective. The message you are seeing is a result of the air flow not being detected or not sufficient. In any case, this is a covered problem and should cost you nothing to fix.

Error Message

. Set shuts off after displaying the message "TV will shut down in a few seconds. Please check if the air flow is blocked." After shutdown, it may have a yellow status LED, self diagnostics indicates error code 38. To repair, replace the Lamp Thermal Sensor with the new version, part # 299P313010A. The sensor is located on the Lamp Cartridge Housing. See Service Tip VS-72B. Under rare circumstances, when a replacement thermal sensor is not available, refer to the original Service Tip, VS-72 (page 2 and 3 of VS-72B) If error 3-4 then this maybe problem:. Check to see if the lamp is on when the unit is off (in standby) if it is components on the Power PWB... K9A20 and/or K9A21 are shorted. Also, R9A02 may be open. Possible side effects ... deformed lamp exhaust duct and damaged lamp. Replace PWB-POWER part # 934C228003 and if necessary, Lamp part # 915P049010, Lamp Exhaust Duct part # 642B155010, and/or Lamp Exhaust Duct Cover part # 642B156010. See Service Tip VS-73 2.
