Ream out all the orifices and air venturi holes on the burner, adjust the air-ahutter, the air-shutter is usually nearer the valve/knob than to the burner. Yellow flame is an imbalance of fuel to oxygen and is creating Carbon Monoxide and not burning cleanly... this is the same problem that can make a furnace deadly. Blue flame=neutral flame.
normally the heat control is in the knob switch
just on is low and full on is high with a range of temperatures in between
It is possible for one switch to give you a problem but not all together
If you are trying to control the range with knob settings but it is not working , get in an electrician as there is a major fault
it seems to me a problem with the timerfunction of the clock.
Clocks are the most source of problems, so when I refurbish a cooker and the timer does not work properly, I shortcut the timer as new clocks are very expensive.
In that case, the clock itself stays working.
For doing this, you need to lift the hob.
BE CAREFULLY, AND BE SURE THERE IS NO TENSION ON THE COOKER
I hope this will help you and I wish you a good weekend and a nice meal with your friends. Dik
we had the same problem on our 10 yr old creda. gas man said new ffd required (flame failure device). he reckoned on around 80 pounds sterling for new part, even if it was still available, plus maybe 2 hours labour. we bought a new cooker!
