My dryer will not start. I press the start and it makes a humming noise. I got an error cord C6 if that helps. I can not find what C6 is anywhere. Model #WED6400SB1
SOURCE: when you press the start button the dryer hums and doesnt turn
check the fuse's and or breaker's to make sure on of them is not blown or tripped, check the belt to make sure it's not broken and check the tensioner, check to see if the drum spin's with little or no friction, if there are no blown or tripped fuse's and belt and tensionet are good the motor may be burned out.

You most likely have a bad motor. Try to spin the dryer drum by hand with the door open, door swich held or taped down, and while pressing start. This will likely get the motor going. If this works try closing the door and starting it again. If it works now the motor may have just had a hard time starting do to it's position or the drum's postition. If it only works when you help it out manually you have a bad motor or maybe a sticky drum/jammed belt/etc. Good luck!
Sounds like the motor is cutting out on its thermal fuse. The only cure is to change the motor.

your dryer motor is shot,it is to weak to kick on,sorry-mike
SOURCE: press the start button on dryer, it hums but wont
Sounds like a weak motor. You'll have to get a new motor installed. They are fairly inexpensive and easy to install yourself on that type of machine if you are handy. Motor is located in the bottom right of the machine, attached to the drum belt through a small pulley underneath the drum next to the motor.
