Tray 1 missing - Lexmark C532n Color Laser Printer

The switch inside that makesxeither an electrical connection orca mechanical one tells the printer that the paper tray is home loaded and awaiting commands is not being activated by the tray
The switch has become faulty overtime and needs,a replacement
The bit on the tray that pushes the tray loaded switch has broken off the tray is missing the switch or a wiring fault has developed
And the switch has no power so it still can't see the tray even if it is loaded thus error paper tray missing continuously is being displayed

There is a black paper guide that sits on the registration roller, its either missing or not sitting properly
Tray 1 works fine but tray 2 to 4 no story

Install a new transfer belt. TR Kit Life: Replace PQ Kit The transfer roller and transfer belt cleaning roller are exhausted. Install a new transfer roller and a new transfer belt cleaning roller. TX Comm Error An outgoing fax transmission error has occurred. Resend the fax. Warming up Wait for the message to clear....

The paper is not feeding from the paper tray. The loud click is alarming, but not the problem. Check the adjustments in the paper tray. The left and right guides should be snug, but the rear guide should give between a 1/16 inch and a 1/8 inch of free play.

To check, press the purple lever at the right front of the tray. The leading edge of the stack of paper in th etray should rise out of the tray so that the top piece of paper can be fed into the drum assembly. If the stack does not rise evenly, or will not rise, the rear adjustment is the problem.

You can inspect the springs in the paper tray by removing the plastic cover that is above the white translucent roller in the tray. To do this turn over the tray and release the catches with a little screwdriver. I do not think there is a missing spring. While you have the cover off clean the lnt from behind the roller.

There are two possible solutions: The first is that the lugs on the side of the paper tray are broken, and the printer cannot "see" a paper tray. In this case you need a new paper tray. The other possibility is that the tray and paper size sensor inside the printer is faulty. Often just pushing the contacts can free them, and sometimes the metal prongs that sense the lugs on the side of the paper tray get unseated. Just use your finger to reseat them correctly. If that doesn't work, the sensor board is likely to have failed, and will need replacing

Return it to Target ASAP; not only is the mfr. going to be unwilling to just send you a tray, but the item was proabably made in China and parts may not even be available in the US. In my experience, Target plays fairer than most at making things right.

Check tray 1 there should be an arm hanging down in the center of the tray the arm goes thru a slot in the metal plate. This arm moves when you install paper in tray 1. If the arm is missing or not in the slot the machine will think paper is in tray 1 and try to feed from tray 1. You can try changing the paper size setting for tray one to something other than the size in tray 2.

For example If tray 2 is set for 8.5x11 set tray 1 for legal.
The machine should then pull the correct size based on the print job.

What happens is that the rubber roller that's supposed to pick paper up and load it in doesn't pull the paper from the tray anymore, hence it gives the paper jam error message. If you want you can replace that rubber roller to fix the problem, however first thing I do is to take that rubber roller out (remove tray and look underneath to find the roller) and turn it inside out then fit it back. This will give the rubber roller the grip that it missed and solve your problem.
