Hi I hope this we help you.
First check all programm menu and locate hp security folder in it you find recovery manager click on it and restored your computer to factory settings. if your computer has corrupted to the extent that the process stop then restart your computer at the process of booting strike on escape key on your keyboard to enter into series of procedure, which will indicate (f2, f9, f10, f12) with their respective actions strike on the function key that is set for recovery manager then follow the process. I believed this should resolve your issue.

I noticed a bios update for your laptop from the hp site
You can download it here http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-64061-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=228&product=1842189
It is dated 8 of 2008 and it may or may not address your problem. I would try this first befor I would replace your screen.

I am assuming you are trying to reinstall Vista. Apparently, HP's recovery partition is less than perfect and the recovery disc you created is probably worthless. (and you can NOT make another one, they only let you make one!) You are not the only person to have this issue.
Here are some things you can try:
1) Borrow an OEM version of Vista from someone...anyone. It sounds like you are proficient with PC's and maybe you know someone who works in IT. Use your product key (25 digit key code) and you should be able to reinstall.
2) if you like Vista, buy yourself an OEM version. It will not have all the factory (HP, Dell, Acer, whatever) BS on it. It will positively work because your hardware if fine.
3) Put XP on it. Personally, I think Vista is a mess. Microsoft is working on "OS7" and soon Vista will be like "Millennium".
Sorry it's not an easy fix, but glad your hard drive and memory show no errors.

Hi,
If you trying to recover your pc from a recpvery partition on the hard drive, somewhere the recovery partions has had the file you need to process your request is missing. If you are using the disk that came with your system, you will need to perform a fresh install with formating your hard drive.

If you don'yt have a Vista DVD,you can borrow any for startup vista repair. This is very common and HP/Compaq don't usually give operating systen vista dvd

It can be due to software as well as hardware issue. There will be an error code mentioned there in that blue screen. Best way to resolve it will be to take a backup of all the data and do a complete System Recovery using the Recovery Partion or Recovery Disk. Still if the problem remains then it is definetly a hardware issue where any one of the hardware part will have to be replaced.
