hi no this does not have a battery, this sounds more like a software problem, or your touch screen may be faulty or both, try installing the drivers for the screen again if not this will be a Toshiba techs job..hope this helps
I think the pen has gone bad on you, since your screen can still detect your hand and the track pad. I would think the pen is faulty. Try another pen cause I think your original is bad, if it was the touch feature that wasn't working I would say its a driver problem but that feature still works with the exception of the pen. Get another pen.
^The question is NOT asking about a USB thumb drive, and a lot of people seem to have failed to understand this.

I don't believe Bamboo pens work.
Hello Zerozero, I hope to be of some assistance to you... I myself have the same tablet and just recently successfully upgraded to XP. Apparently due to licensing issues the pen driver isn't allowed to run on XP. To make it work there's two ways, the hard way involving a software download and much pain, the other way is 'relitivly' easy... lets try that way first. Download the CICXPen off of the Fujitsu support site... now here comes the interesting part. Unpack the driver to C:\Drivers\Pen once you've unpacked it find the file called fujpen.inf open it in notepad to edit it. You will see: [ControlFlags] ExcludeFromSelect=*FUJ02B6 Make sure the last digit is 6 in that string... this is saying to exclude that model in the driver. If it's anything other than a 6 change it to a 6. Now then... further down you'll see: [FPC.Mfg] %FPC.DeviceDesc0% = pendrv, *FUJ02B6 Now... remember what I said about the 6 above? Yeah... the driver is fighting with itself, help it out and change the last number to a 7. Save the .inf file. Go to your device manager right click on the unknown device and update it with the modified file... and presto changeo your touchscreen works!! Now... you'll notice that when you restart it will still say that the pen cannot be started... but this should only limit the CIC software from starting... meaning that to actually write on your tablet you'll need to install microsoft office... it has built in writing pad software, and dictation software (which is my personal favorite). Good luck and God speed! If you have any problems let me know!
have u tried re-installing the driver...
if thats the case even if u tried different pens it wouldnt work... plus even if ur driver was fine a different pen wouldnt work for that driver...
after re-installation if the pen still doesnt work then theres a 50% chance ur pens not working...
One more thing does ur monitor support it???
I'm not familiar with your laptop but judging from all the pdas I've had with touch screens the pen itself is only a pen, you could basicly use a wooden stick to poke at the screen and it shouldn't make a difference to the computer.
this laptop has a touchscreen If I'm not mistaken and you should be able to use it even with your fingers.
You might have a faulty touchscreen or then you need to install a driver for the screen?
