"new voice mail" display

I have a ge 5.8 ghz corldess phone - 25942 series

i have the answering machine on after 5 rings

my phone display says "new voice mail" and my base indicator light just goes on and off - blinking non stop

i have erased all messages in the answering machine as well as my phone provider (voip)

i have unplugged the phone and restarted
i have made all settings default
and it still gives me the "new voice mail" display

can you help me take this off? i cannot seem to find the solution in your site or any other troubleshooting website...

    i had the same problem, call your phone service and have them disconnect the voice mail service, you have to use it to hear your message and then delete it and then you should be good, also tell them to put there ringer setting to like 9 or something if they cant just stop the voice mail service, that way your machine will get to it before voice mail since most phones only go up to 5 rings before your machine gets it.. hope this helps all

    I have the same problem, and I use Vonage, but when I got to my 'dashboard', there are no new voicemails there. This is the only phone service I use, and I have no idea how to access this mysterious 'voice mail' that my phone wants to give me...

To stop flashing light go to you message box, listen and then delete messages, This worked for me. Good luck

Call your phone service and have them disconnect the voice mail and if they cant just remove that have them set there rings at like 9 since most phones only have up to 5 rings for the machine to answer.you will have to use there voice mail service to hear your message and then delete it but should be good after that. i have comcast and they said it would take 3 days to deactivate voice mail but told me how to get there so i can get rid of that flashing light, hope this helps you

Voice Mail is not a function or feature of any telephone set,
nor does the GE 29581 phone have an Answering Machine
System that might be confused with Voice Mail.

VoiceMail is an option offered by some (not all) Telephone
Service Providers. Check with your Telephone Service
Provider to learn how to go about using theirs if it's available.

Had power surge in area and voice mail reset to default and is picking up after 2 rings. how do you get in to reset it to more rings before going to voice mail?
The 29385GE1 isn't an answering machine. It will continue to ring until someone or something picks up or the caller hangs up. Please repost your question, giving the make and model of your answering machine.

My phone goes to voicemail after 3 rings. how do i change that to 5 rings?
do you have the phone with an answering machine like:

Or are you using a voice mail system on your phone line? If so, contact the voicemail company or your phone company for information on how to change the number of rings before the forward.

Cannot clear message on handset that says I have a voice message.
I resolved the problem but I'm not 100% sure of how I did it. If it happens again I'll try it again. I left the answering machine OFF so the Voice Mail would take any messages. A friend phoned and left a message in the VOICE MAIL, I knew this because of the broken dial tone when I went to make a call. When I erased his message the 'New Voice Message' displayed on the handset disappeared. I figure a previous caller hung up just after the voice mail picked up. It was not long enough so it did not register in the voice mail but somehow registered on the GE phone. Since there wasn't anything registered in the VOICE MAIL to erase the message was 'stuck' on the handset display. As soon as there was a message registered in the VOICE MAIL that could be erased it also cleared the message on the handset.

As i mentioned, if it happens again I'll try it to see if it works, until then I am not going to tempt fate.

try unplugging the base to reset it. That voicemail signal is set on or off by your phone service provider. Check with them to see if a: you have v-mail or b: they can reset it

Can I use cordless phone answering machine even if I have voicema
You do not have to cancel the phone company voice mail service. You need to change the number of rings the phone uses to answer the voice mail.

For example, if the telephone company voice mail answers if 4 rings, set the telephone answering machine to answer in 3 rings or less.

You did record a message on the answerer, didn't you? Mine displayed that until I recorded the outgoing message for the answerer. You do not need any service from your phone provider. The answerer in the base unit simply records the caller's message when you don't answer after a set number of rings. The manual tells you how to name the handset, which is a nice feature if you don't wish to use "unit 1, unit 2, etc".
