You just have to pull the lever back, like it was on the saw, until it clicks/unlocks. It may be hard to do, but thats what has to be done.

You have a little catch where the handle pivots. You have to release it to move the handle back to release the brake. It catches on the cover when the case is installed.

Hi the chain came off the chainsaw, so I have just put it back on but now have no power?? Is there a reset somewhere?

The chainsaw comes with a safety brake. It is situated in front of the handle. If pushed forward it locks up the chain. It needs a firm tug towards yourself to release it. Hope it helps.

Your switch is broken and needs to be replaced. You can do it yourself when you get the part from a Ryobi dealer.

I can start up the chainsaw, but chain doesn't spin

Is the chain brake on? Pull the lever your knuckles are against toward you to unlock the anti-kickback brake.

Ryobi pcn3335 chainsaw chainbrake will not release fully

1. Is there a Homelite/Ryobi dealer/authorized repair facility near you? If yes I'd try them they may repair it.
2. Any major chainsaw seller/repairer may be able to repair it... there will be a fee.

I own a few chain saws without chain brakes. I also own and use good PPE.

Chain brake problems

There is a thin spring like piece of metal that wraps around a hub, that tightens up when the break is in the on position. This loosens when the break is off. You may need to adjust this spring.

P.S. When the spring is tight It stops the motor from spinning.

Ryobi pcn 4040 chain saw

I have the same model chainsaw with the same fault. The brake is not releasing when the brake handle is pulled right back. I can only run mine if the brake handle is pulled back to the main handle with a tyrap - defeats the object of the auto-brake completely. Design fault I reckon.
