1. Press the "Cancel" or "Stop" button on the microwave oven to stop the current defrost cycle.
2. Look for a "Defrost" button on the control panel of the microwave oven.
3. Press the "Defrost" button again to turn it off.
4. If your microwave oven has a "Sensor" button, press it and select another cooking function like "Popcorn," "Reheat," or "Beverage."
5. If the above steps don't work, consult the user manual of your microwave oven or contact the manufacturer's customer service for assistance.

Note: Turning off defrost on a sensor microwave oven may vary depending on the model and brand of the appliance.

Most fridges will stay on defrost for up to 30 minutes. Leave it plugged in and see if the button pops back out after the defrost has finished.

One is the power setting used for defrosting food not a button that says defrost.

If it is a manual defrost fridge with a push button defrost then yes the button stays in until it has finished the defrost cycle.

But as no model & make have been provided this is just a in principle answer.

Defrost cycles in normal conditions can last from five (5) to 25 (25) minutes, depending on variables like humidity, runs times and how often the door is opened. Defrosting the unit manually as you've done is merely a short term solution as it recurs again over time. You should find out why it is not working automatically, as intended. This could be a problem with poor air flow (fan, blower or restricted air), a bad control, or even loose connections. Forcing defrost without correcting the underlying issue will not eliminate the problem.

Change the defrost control.

It is a defrost button. Defrost the refrigerator when the frost accumulated on the evaporator is about 1/4" thick. To defrost push the defrost button. Be sure to keep the drain pan in place. Defrosting usually takes a few hours. The refrigerator will restart when defrosting ends. Empty water from the drain pan after defrosting. (taken directly out of owners manual)

There are no buttons to defrost your freezer except the off button. The unit is a self defrost. If it is freezing up then one of the defrost components have malfunctioned.

Push in the red "Defrost Button" located in the center of the temperature control dial. Defrost cycle will start immediately. NOTE: Turning the temperature control dial to the OFF position is not required. Defrosting usually takes a few hours. When defrosting is complete, the red "Defrost Button" will release automatically. Then the refrigerator will resume normal operation while moving towards the set temperature. NOTE: After defrosting, allow a few hours to reach the set temperature before making any further adjustments.
