Try using another program like Nero or Alcohol 120% to burn CD's you can get some trials versions here.

Although the last 3 burners I've bought have come w/ some sort burning software so you probably already have a better option than WMP.

I don't know how to download cd's and dvd's on dell EL-1210-09

What do you mean download cd's and dvd's? You don't download them, you simply put them in the drive and play them. If you purchased a music cd or a movie dvd that you want to play or watch, then just put it in the drive. The system will recognize it and automatically open Windows Media Player for you to play it or you can open it yourself if autoplay is not active.

Exactly what is it that you are trying to do?

If you are talking about putting a blank cd or dvd into the drive to copy music or a movie to it, that's another story and will take a while to explain. You will basically need to make sure your CD/DvD drive can burn CD's or Dvd's. Then you will need some type of burning software (later versions of Window Media Player will burn).

Click Start/My Computer and look at your devices. if your DvD/CD Drive is listed look for RW which means rewritable (it can burn or copy). If it say DVDrw it can read and write dvd's. If it says CDrw it can read and write cd's. You can also look on the drive door on the computer where you would place the cd or dvd. If it says Rewritable CDrw (it can write cd's) or DvDrw (it can write dvd's). If it says ROM (read only media), that means it can Read Only and not write.

If the drive is rewritable then the software such as Media Player will allow you to go find what you want to put on the cd or dvd. You have two ways of putting things in the software to burn or write. You can copy and paste, or you can drag and drop.

Im trying to burn cd but my computer dont burn

Do you have a CD Burner? Does your drive say CDrw on the Cd Drawer's door? Have you looked at My Computer to see if your drive is shown and if it says CDrw? Click Start/My Computer and see if your drive is listed and if it is a CDrw drive.

Have you been able to burn CD's in the past?

What error message if any are you getting when you try to burn a cd?

What Burning Software are you using? Windows Media Player? Nero? Roxio?

Windows media player let me burn cd but other software dosnt work

All you need to do is change the device it is going to burn the files to. Apparently it is currently set to burn an .nrg image file to your hard disk. If you click on the down arrow next to the Image Drive, you will see your DVD/CD drives listed there.

OK. The movie industry strikes again! Your RENTED DVDs are the key.Hollywood made some adjustments to prevent the copying of the movies. So they put software to detect the kind of drives in which the movies are inserted. DVD/RW are capable of copying a movie, so they are disqualified as playing devices. Have it be a normal DVD player you won't be facing any troubles.

Dell Inspiron 530 CDRW/DVD problems

Are you a smoker? Its possible that a good bit of cigarette smoke buildup has accumulated on the CD burner's internal laser lens. One of those cheap CD cleaner disks might work to clean the laser lens, but usually one would have to open up the CD drive and carefully clean the lens using ear swabs moistened with isopropyl alcohol.

If your dvd burner does not have the capabilities, it is possible to be upgraded to burn Double Layer media, check your burner manufacturer for details. Other ways to say it is DVD+R DL media, Double Layer DL Media, Dual Layer Media, and DL DVD R Media.

NEC-3520A Suddenly stop to burn correctly, but reads OK

Have you tried lowering the burn/erase speed? To begin, simply do what you need to do on the lowest speed, and then keep increasing until it gives the error again. This will most likely work. I had this problem and I burn now CDs at 16x.
