I took my t-touch to a louzy repair shop in Paris for a battery change. The guy opened the watch in front of me (it was still working), unscrewed the inner battery cover, and replaced the battery; but since then the watch did not work anymore. He tried several times with also new batteries, but nothing to do.
He told me that probably there was a spring for the negative contact which might have be gotten lose after he opened it, so he try with another spring, fitting it in a small hole, within the battery compartment, but once again the watch was completely dead.
Any insights on the problem will be greately appreciated.
In particular I would like to know if this spring thing should really be there or not, and if the watch must be reset after the new battery is installed (how?).
I encountered thew same exact problem yesterday at a dumpy repair shop that I stopped at because I have not been able to locate a battery for the watch anywhere. Well, he had one, and the exact same thing happened. Watch worked, he opened the cover, replaced the battery with a new one, closed it up, watch is dead as a doornail, what gives? There usually is an AC contact point to reset digital watches. Touching the + and the ac point with a conductive wire usually resets the watch. Not sure about the spring- I'm not going to open my Tissot up unless I have to.
I received that watch yesterday for battery change, which I did and watch was running good, and I reset it as well my customer was happy. so if you need help call me at 312 641 7000 or check my webside www.goamfix.com

If you take a jeweler's lupe near where the arrow is you will see the word "reset" in the plastic. There is a deep hole in the plastic with contacts below. That is the reset, and that is why you must use very sharp pointed tweezers to make contact with the back of the battery.
I think if you do not have sharp tweezers, you can probably put a sewing pin down the hole, and then connect with a small screwdriver to the back of the battery
These babies are notorious for going down the tubes with a battery change. I bet if you get it back it won't work with a new battery. Twice I have replaced batteries and the watch didn't work when I finished. One of them was my own watch, I think $450 is about half the price of a new watch and that is sad. Cool watch just not very long life

Of course, there is the way to change the battery, but for this you have to visit your closest watch repair shop. I do mean WATCH REPAIRS, not the jewellers. Decent watchmaker will definitely open your watch and will replace the battery. Your watch's case appears to be a monoblock. That means you'll need to lift the crystal first, pull the stem second and just then you'll be able to extract watch's movement for replacing battery. Do not forget: jewellers and watchmakers are under one roof, but their trades are completely different. No jeweller can do watchmakers job and vice versa. Rate me, plz.
You need to CAREFULLY peel back that sticker and on either side of that metal clip is a way to unclip it. I really would not recommend someone changing any of their batteries unless its a "cheapo" watch! If you touch the wrong area with the tweezers you could end up having to send it in for repair! Best bet here is to take it to a reputable watch repair shop and let them do it!
it all stems from the watch not actually being waterproof it's more water resistant than waterproof. The little indentations on the back that look like they are for a tool to unscrew it are actually holes i guess for the altimeter and meteo so it can sense pressure. Behind the back just behind the holes is a nylon gauze material and underneath this is a sensor slightly recessed and covered with some kind of waterproof substance. As far as i can see the problems lie here any water sweat or other foreign object than gets into this gauze will eventually will clog this gauze material which at first will affect the altimeter then the meteo. When the gauze has been clogged up severely i gets very dirty indeed which means when it gets wet it takes an age to dry out so if you wear it in the shower like i used to it will never dry out this causes the watch to malfunction quite severely. You can actually fix this problem yourself just get a very small flat screwdriver and lever the back off don't worry it's only a push fit and comes of easily you will see straight away a dirty damp smelly clogged up round piece of nylon gauze clean this up with a bit of WARM not boiling soapy water being careful not to disturb the pressure sensor and it's waterproof goo inside then dry it all and put it together
Hope this helps
