Cannot play movies unless in region 2 or 4 - CyberLink PowerDVD 6 Deluxe Full Version OEM for PC

With your set on and without disc in the tray:

1. Press PLAY from your remote control
2. Press the following button sequence: 1590 2379 390
3. Press PLAY again

This will release the region verification in your player(region free). However, some DVDs (multi region in particular) will not play, since they require region detection from the player unit.

Region 1 DVD's will NOT play on region 2 dvd players.
You need either a region 2 disk or a region 1 DVD Player.

Check the region coding of the discs. You are probably set for region 1 and the German discs are region 2

Where did u bought this DVD player?US,Canada,and Mexico?The DVD disc. used NTSC region format.Asia,Europe,Africa,and the Middle East.The DVD disc. used PAL region format.They can't be mix or it will not play as u find out.If u move in and out to another region of the world.U must have a regions free DVD player to play either NTSC or PAL regions.

You cannot see region 1 movies unless you change the region code, its designed this way as an anti piracy measure.

Depending on what country your system is made in it will have a certain region code. Most movies are also region coded and if those region codes do not match then you cannot play that movie. You cannot change the region code on any system unless it is opened up and modified

Short answer...yes, would you like to invest what would likely be days learning the process? There may be a mod ship out there somewhere, but unless you are willing to modify the PS3 in someway that would likely void any warranties, then you're going to have to find a DVD for your region. A mod without a chip would involve installing linux in addition to the OS that the playstation comes with. I'm sure the process has gotten easier since I last checked, but I found it too painstaking.

Try changing back to region 1. Let us know if it works

Most DVD players have the region settings stored in a type of RAM. The firmware allows only a certain number of region changes before you can no longer make any changes. Unless you can hack the main board to somehow alter the firmware, there is no way to get more region changes. This is by design and relates to international copyright laws.
