GE model: s3700e1ww (top load washing machine)
last week the washing machine did not stop filling with water in the rinse/spin part of the cottons cycle and flooded the laundry room and hallway before we noticed. It would not stop when we pushed the control knob back in to turn it off and I ended up shutting the water supply off. I was able to turn the knob to the drain part of the cycle and the water did drain out. The next time we ran a load through I watched carefully and it functioned normally in the same cycle, however the next day it happened again but we caught it early enough. We tried the other cycles (delicates, easy care and power wash) and at first they functioned normally but then they also had the same problem. I thought it was probably a timer issue and was going to replace it but thought I would ask an expert first. Thanks for your time and response
Sound like the same washing machine from hell that we have. three or four times it has overflowed from want we have been told the hose that runs from the drum to on/off pressure switch cloggeds with soap. we have tried different soap, hot water, cold, water you name it we've tried it. so now evey time we use it we have to clean it with a coat hanger by taking the front off the machine.
P.S. take the hose off top and bottom to clean it, all it takes two/three very small soap bubbles to clogged it

My GE Spacemaker washer (model WWP 1180G) seems to overflow every couple of cycles during the rinse cycle. I was about to call Sears but figured I would check here first. I figure there is some sort of sensor that is off because it will overflow even with small/medium loads.
I have a GE top load washing machine WBSE2090AZWW and it keeps overflowing! The first time, we thought it was a fluke, because it didn't happen again for a couple of weeks, but it's happened several more times. We know to listen for it now...but it's still a mess to clean up. It just never stops filling with water...and it can happen on either the start cycle or the rinse cycle, so you have to pretty much stay in the laundry room unless you want it to overflow. Turning it off doesn't stop it, either! You have to turn the water off. Help!
My washer is doing the same thing. Is there a part that I can replace?
Thank you very much.
