The remote for my magnavox 4 head dvd vcr isn't working all of a sudden, even with multiple battery changes. If I push top menu while previews are playing, it shows the red circle with a line through it in the top corner, but that's the only button that I can get to respond. I bought a replacement remote on Amazon, but it's doing the exact same thing.

You have an unknown make of VCR or DVD and you want the Magnavox television to operate them?

Or you want the VCR and DVD remote to operate the television.

Or you want a Universal Remote and a magic code to make all three work?

The answer to all three is No, apart from number 3 where a very expensive LCD computerized remote can control multiple items.

No one uses Universal remotes, there are better options. Codes are based on the MAKE of the unit to be operated, so Philips DVD you want a Philips DVD remote code. For the Magnavox, you want the code for a Magnavox television IF in fact it is a television and not the VCR/DVD, which now I am thinking is actually what you are after, so we end up here!

A universal remote should solve your problem. You should be able to find one on ebay. You may even be able to find one for your particular TV on ebay as well.

Universal remote does not work with Magnavox combo of dvd vcr, because no dubbing button. But magnavox has many remotes that will NB884, NB559, NB677.NB627 which also works on Sharp dvd vcr combo.

Good luck! We are taking our unit back. We are both professionals dealing with multiple intense things, then we get home and can't figure this stupid POS out.

This is hard but understandable. If you cannot change it on the frount of the unit with the channel up and down buttons then you may have to get a universal remote there is no solution or quick fix or any type of factory reset unless you had the remote to get into the menu. good luck

not sure but it sounds like you need to push the dvd button itself before dvd functions will work-it's to the left of the pause button. same thing happened to me and when i try that it works. remote seems to default to vcr i guess ....

tv was working fine however when we moved it to another room it will not power on at all even using different plug ins
