Maytag H2O MFI2568AES Ice Maker keeps jamming

The Ice Maker on my H2O keeps jamming. It looks like when the ice is dumped into the bucket, it's in one big piece. The auger then can't break it up into individual pieces and instead jams. Is there a way to adjust the amount of water that flows into the Ice Maker so it dumps individual pieces into the bucket?

Most ice and water units have heater elements inside the door and in the ice chute itself to prevent water and ice from freezing in those areas. Its possible that one of the heater elements has failed. You will need a wiring diagram and a meter to test if the element is OK or not.

SOURCE: Ice maker not dumping ice

Make sure the freezer is at least 17 degrees or colder (colder is better). If you have a square cover on the end of the ice maker see if you can pull it off and press on the gear face (don't turn just press). That may clean the electrical contact springs and get it working again. Basically if ya got water, 17 degrees or colder you will get ice. Other than that the ice maker motor module is likely bad (broken gear, etc.). Pretty common.

SOURCE: Whirlpool refrigerator ED22TEXHW01 ice maker

Tammi, you first want to check to make sure the water inlet tube to the icemaker is not frozen shut. Next, get yourself a jumper wire about 4 inches long with the ends stripped exposing the wire on each end. Pull off the ice maker cover, it will pull right off. Now you are looking at the module. On the module, left side, you will see two test points marked V and L. Insert one end of the jumper wire into V and the other marked L. You are now sending 120 volts to the water valve and water should fill the ice maker providing the inlet tube is not frozen over. If it doesn't fill, you either have a bad water valve or module itself. Also check to see if the clips that hold the center gear on the module are not broken. Catriver..post back.

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking same part needs replaced. The water valve at the bottom rear of fridge
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Ice maker makes ice but will not rotate and dump the ice.

You have a thermostatically controlled heat release ice maker. Any number of issues can cause a failure to "dump" the ice. The harvest is started when the thermostat closes. A motor rotates the ejector fingers which are at rest in the 2 o'clock position. The ice maker operation will stall until the heater releases the ice from the mold. After the cubes are ejected into the ice bucket, the water valve will refill the mold with water to begin the next cycle. Lack of ice dispensing could be a failed thermostat, heater, motor or switch contact withing the ice maker module. You could simply replace the ice maker and save the expense of the service call.

Ice maker has ice in the tray, but will not dump or do anything

"Ice in the tray". Do you mean ice is in the well of the ice maker, or in the tray or bucket that collects the harvested cubes from the ice maker?
If the problem is the ice is in the ice maker well, and will not dump, then, if the ice maker is turned on, and the temperature in the freezer is 14 degrees or colder then the ice maker has failed.
In rare occasions an ice maker can be repaired but is rarely done, and is a repair only someone with strong working knowledge of ice makers can perform.
If you are handy with tools you can remove the icemaker. 3 screws and power plug. Once out you can check the well to see if something has jammed up the rake, but that's about all.

Make ice somtime but leaks or act like its defrosing

Hi: The ice maker is thermally protectec. In other words the freezer has to be at Zero degrees. Not just frozen, but zero. Your ice cream should be rock hard. Before you call a service tech try setting your freezer colder. Wait 24 hours before a change. It's human nature to check on the icemaker from time to time, But don't keep opening the freezer to see if it's working. You'll just dump the cold air out and make matters work. I hope this helps. Ice maker removal

first of all remove the ice bucket. then you will see a wiring cover on teh left hand wall just below teh icemaket. there is a rectangular hole in this cover. using a small precision scredriver carefullly insert into this hole and push up or and down to release a hidden clip. the trick is to pull on the wiring cover while you try to maneuver the clip. first time you do it it can be very frustrating but keep working at it and you will get it.
alternately you could just leave the Icemaker in place and use a hairdryer to melt the jammed ie out of the way. good luck peyton
