If my son has XBox Live Gold Membership do we just need an internet connection to play or do we require extra GB per month to play?

Does playing the Xbox 360 use GB from your monthly quota or once you buy Live Membership does that cover the cost of playing?

The xbox live gold membership is paid for when you buy it. It never runs out until you have used all of the time you bought. Like say you bought a 12 month subscription it will last you the whole year until the day you bought the last one and activated it. Only time you use money is when you want to buy something from xbox live. All you need is the internet wifi or direct cable works. You can actually use your xbox live account on any xbox. Say if his friend has an xbox and has xbox live he can then use his account on his friends xbox to play online with his friend. You dont have to worry though every time he goes to an xbox he has to recover his xbox live account info so no one else can use it while he is using it. There is also a few new updates to keep his account safe as well when he does want to do something like that. also you can go into family settings and make it so he cant buy anything with out a pass code even put a timer on it with a pass code to limit time of play. So inclosing no you dont have to buy GB it just uses your internet connection and it does cover the cost of play for as long as you bought the subscription. Hope this helps :)

SOURCE: xbox live

Hi you will need to either do the following:

1. extend the dhcp leasing function within the router by increasing the time for the lease, usually this is in minutes
2. manually assign the ip address so ud ont have this problem ever again
3. renew the ip address via xbox 360
4. it could just mean the xbox live server is temp down.

good luck

smeags.

SOURCE: My son has xbox 360 live. Can he use my Sprint

You could try but that is not tested by the live group so I doubt that it will work. Aircard are not tested for xbox 360 consoles and if it will work, he might encounter issues for the multiplayer games and game lags. Try going to xbox.com for more issue for the compatibility of the service.

SOURCE: xbox live disconnects randomly,

Honestly the only thing i can tell you is that you have to make sure you have a secure cable connection make sure nothing is loose and is safe from being tugged by any objects if you are using wireless i'd suggest you use wires... if these don't have any problems there then the problems lies with your phone company...sorry if this does not help your situation

SOURCE: requires an xbox live membership with permission to play live

Hi,

You shouldn't need the parental controls changed to log onto Xbox Live. However, since you switched computers make sure that your Xbox is getting connection to the internet correctly. You can 'Test Connection' in the settings tab of the Xbox home screen.

If you are getting the internet connection correctly and logging in with your normal Gamertag, you should have no problems.

Is it good xbox live gold because I want to have it

Gold is only required if you want to use premium services (such as espn, netflix, vudu, etc.) or you want to play games against other players and need their matchmaking servers. They sell gold membership in monthly, 3 months and 12 months. Sometimes you can fine a 13 month card in the stores. If you don't know if you need gold, you can always get a single month. Or sometimes certain games have a trail gold pass for a few days. You could probably try those if you (or your friends) have any games that came with one.

Son purchased yearly Gold membership thinking two players could use it second player not able to use. Why?

Hi. Your son most likely bought the Gold membership to XBOX Live thinking that it was an XBOX Live Gold Family Pack. A single Gold membership costs $59.99 USD. An XBOX Live Gold Family Pack costs $99.99 USD. With the family pack, you get four 12-month Xbox LIVE Gold memberships for less than the price of two. Two players cannot use a single Gold membership, but if they play on the same console, then two players could share one membership. Also, certain games, such as Call of Duty: Black Ops and Halo:Reach allow players to play online multiplayer games together with one "guest" player at the same time, on the same TV. I hope this cleared everything up.

Could you tell me in steps how to conect to xbox live

Step 1 Form your Xbox 360 you need to be connected to the Internet by a straight LAN line or wirelessly. You can test you connection by going to the setting screen on your Xbox 360.
  • Step 2 Once connected to the Internet for your Xbox 360 go to your main account screen and find the tab that says "Join Xbox LIVE" click on that link then follow the simple instructions that the Xbox LIVE will provide. At this point you should have a name in mind for your gamer tag.
  • Step 3 Xbox 360 LIVE has several different options available for memberships. They are a monthly, 3-month and 12-month membership accounts. I would recommend a simple one month account if you just wanted to check out the features offered on XBOX 360 LIVE. If your an avid gamer and love to play games online with friends, the 12-month Gold membership is the way to go.
  • Step 4 Once you've completed the process of joining Xbox 360 LIVE, they will send you a confirmation email confirming your membership. Now you can log on to Xbox 360 LIVE and start doing this like customizing your avatar and playing online multi-player games.

My friend brought over his memory pack and disconnected mine but when it came time to attach mine my avatar wasn't there and when i tried to go customize it a warning sign popped up and said you need to...

It is a compulsary update for your Xbox 360 system so it can support the feature you are trying to do. So you really might want to join to Xbox Live by creating an Xbox Live account and by signing in to Xbox Live, it will automatically install the latest firmware to update your system.

Do u have to pay to go online on the xbox 360

    Hello there.

On the Xbox 360, you'll have two choices of service level: Xbox Live Silver and Xbox Live Gold. Xbox Live Silver will offer limited Xbox Live functionality at no cost, while the Gold package will be a fully functional pay service.

The Xbox Live Silver service means you can connect your Xbox 360 console to a broadband Internet connection and get functionality right out of the box without having to pay any amount of money.

With Xbox Live Silver you can:
    • Create an online Gamer Profile
    • Access the Xbox Live Marketplace
    • Engage in voice and text messaging
    • Talk to a single friend at a time using voice chat
    • Receive video messages from Gold level members
    • Access massively multiplayer online games (additional fees may apply)
The Xbox Live Gold is similar to the current paid Xbox Live service. The Xbox Live Gold service delivers the complete online connection package. With Xbox Live Gold you have all the features of Silver level, and additionally:

    • Play multiplayer games online
    • Video chat
    • Multiplayer online tournaments
    • Participate in Xbox Live online programming, such as Game with Fame, Play and Win, and Prime Time activities.
Hope this clarifies things for you.
