The stay mode most likely follows the same exit delay that the away mode uses, try waiting a minute or two after arming in stay then try the front door.

1. With the phone in standby, press and hold # on any handset. The phone prompts you to select the number of hours (1 - 9 or Always On) that you want it to stay in silent mode.
2. To confirm, press # or just wait about 5 seconds. The phone turns on the answering system and displays Silent Mode On on each handset.
3. After the selected number of hours, the phone automatically exits silent mode. To exit silent mode manually, press and hold # again.
That's the way the camera works. You can use the "Remote on Duration" command in the Setup menu to change the length of time the camera stays on waiting for a command from the remote, but if the camera times out then it will revert to non-remote operation. An alternative would be to hook up an external power supply and keep the camera from turning off at all.

It sounds to me like the printer needs repaired/replaced as the gears which drive the printer cartridges' belt are no longer aligning correctly. At today's prices, I strongly suggest just replacing the printer as you can get a new one pretty cheap now. Good luck!
