Magnetic encoding error

I am using a p330i printer for my encoding via the cardfive vision 8.7 professional software. I am using a loco card and numbers are what I want to encode so I am using track 2 for it. However, everytime I try to encode using the printer, the printer ejects the card with the prompt "encoding error". This happens after the printer has displayed "mag encoding" for like a minute with the card going back and forth under the print head. Please how can I fix this error?

SOURCE: i cant print cards using cardfive software and magicard rio print

Hi There,

First of all, for Windows Vista, you need to be using the very latest driver (V6.02).
You can download this by following the link below;

http://www.magicardonline.net

Just enter your printer's serial number in the QuickSearch box.

Please Note: - With CardFive software, you need to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the printer list, then select the printer driver with the Windows logo next to it called 'Magicard Printer Series'.

If you still can't print from the CardFive software, can you print the Windows test page?

I hope this helps.

Regards,

MC.

SOURCE: I recently changed from Preface to ID Works for

Most likely your Mag-stripe info is missing from the card project in IDworks.
If you imported your projects from preface, its likly the box to include mag-stripe config was not transfer d.
enter idworks designer and click VIEW then field connections, there should be some info tied you mag-stripe field 1,2, or 3 of not there is the problem.

Next check printer plug ins in IDworks admin to make sure the mag-stripe plugin is installed. Also i would check Datacard.com Download section make sure you have newest and correct driver for your OS
if none of this works, uninstall everything (exporting projects) and reinstall.

Mag-strpe encoders can become defective, the encoder may need to be replaced.

SOURCE: Hi There. I have Tally

The check ribbon message on the 2265 indicates the printer is detecting problems with moving the print head. You have ruled out the ribbon as being the cause of the problem by using ribbons from another printer.
Before suspecting other components check the printer model, if the printer is a 2265+ check to ensure the correct ribbon is used. Note the ribbon for the 2265+ is different to the 2265 ribbon. The 2265+ has a ribbon sensor to detect the ribbon moving. If the printer is a 2265+ the part number for the ribbon should be 062471.

If the correct ribbon is used the problem could be the timing strip which could be dirty or warn. Try cleaning this and check for damage.
The problem can also be caused by a dirty or lubricated carriage shaft, the carriage shaft should be clean and dry running - Keep clean of any type of lubricant.
The problem can also be caused by the timing station on the carriage, the carriage motor.

I think my problem is me but I hope that someone can help. I am trying to Encode the Magnetic strip for in house gift cards. I can not remember what I need to encode the cards properly. The printer and...

First thing, you have the encoder?
Then, you need to know what kind of card will you encode, otherwise you could be writting nonsense in the stripe.(Hi-co/lo-co)

Once you know, go to settings on the driver, "Dialog with printer" first in most machines. It usually gets easier when you use a card software like cardpresso(cardpresso.com)

I have Zebra P330i printer, have done the cleaning using short and long cards. Display shows "Ready". On printing using color ribbon, the messages (Printing Yellow, Printing Magenta...)appear on...

Knowing that you were able to complete the proper cleaning procedure using the short and long cards, and the printer is on ready status, try to change the ribbon and test. Make sure the card is properly inserted with the magnetic stripe on the top facing down. Also make sure that the ribbon is properly loaded. There should be an instruction on the cover for its proper orientation.
If it still does not print, make sure your configuration on the printer is set to the proper type of cards HICO or LOCO and the ribbon type is properly set to YMCKO for color. Also, check if you have enabled mag stripe encoding or if you don't need to have it enabled. Enabling means that the printer will check for the mag stripe if its good or bad. If bad the printer will reject the card.
Do a self test print by following the below. 1. Set the printer's power switch (on the back of the printer) to the OFF ( O ) position. 2. While pressing the Printer's front panel button (next to the LCD display panel), switch the printer ON ( ' ). 3. Hold the panel button until the LCD display panel reads "SELF TEST". 4. Release the panel button, and the test card will print
If no prints, observed for any mechanical errors on the printer. Normally mechanical errors are detected by the printer with corresponding error message.
If none of the above works then you might have a print head problem. You may attempt to clean it by following below. Else if it does not help then have your print head replaced.
A cleaning using the Cleaning Cards usually suffices. However, a separate Print Head cleaning can remove more stubborn deposits when print anomalies persist. To avoid deposits, only use foam-tipped swabs. 1. Place the printer power switch in the OFF ( O ) position. 2. Open the Main Cover, release the Print Head Carriage, and remove the ribbon. Leave the Print Head Carriage in its raised position. (For details, see Chapter 2.) 3. Clean Print Head by moving an alcohol-moistened swab tip side-to-side across the Print Head elements. Only use moderate force. To re-order swabs, please refer to the Media List on the Windows Drivers and User Documentation CD supplied with this printer. 4. The swabs can also be used in a similar manner to clean the optional magnetic encoding head.

I need drivers Eltron Zebra P310CM for Windows 7

Hi I solve this problem with a program called CardFive this program provides several drivers inside when you install it in Windows 7. I install CardFive 6.3. Note. this program don´t install a printer driver in Devices and Printers in Windows 7, only provides you a interface to print cards with your Eltron p310 and you can choose other printer models discontinued. My printer interface is parallel and works in Windows 7 With CardFive 6.3 pro.

Not working dtc550

Since the printer prints the test page from the driver, most likely the problem is with your Cardfive software. To test this, try printing a card on the printer from Microsoft Word or Notepad. Just remember to set your page size or you will get multiple cards printed. The Fargo printer is just a windows printer and may receive output from any windows software.
