My Sony VPL-ES7 LCD remote control is missing but the control panel is locked. what should i do

Check the fan connections, one might not be connected right if you have just serviced it. Switching off with a flashing red light usually indicates a fan error.
Also is there a sequence to the flashes? e.g, 4 flashes and pause?
some manufacturers have a fault code table for the amount of flashes.

NOT HAVING REMOTE??...INTRESTING...

HAVE YOU TRIED IT MANUALLY TO TURN IT ON??

You might check the following:

* signal is going to the input. If not, does the menu come up?
* air flow is ok. Projectors don't run well if they are hot and can't breathe

Have you connected the USB cable to your laptop so that the Sony remote can act as a mouse? Did the laptop respond by loading drivers?

If the Panel Key Lock feature was set to 'on' so that the Remote Commander could be used the user manual, page 34, says, "If you press and hold the MENU key for about 10 seconds when the power is on, the lock will be released and "Panel Key Lock" is automatically set to "OFF"."
However, if the Security Lock feature was set, which requires a password, and you don't know what the password is you have to call the Sony Customer Service center and be ready with the device's serial number and your personal information.

check that all vents are clear and that the fans are working, it maybe a self protect feature when it detects over heating and automatically shuts off

When the control panel lock ON of the projector so that the projector can be operated only with the REMOTE CONTROL.
If you loos your remote control then keeping the POWER key on the projector control panel pressed for 10 seconds turns the projector ON when it is in standby mode, and turns the projector to standby mode when the power is on. If you press and hold the MENU key for about10 second when the power is on the lock will be released and "panel key lock" is automatically set to "OFF"
