Clear sign of water damage under that button. 8100 is fairly easy to open with a T6 screw driver. then use alcohol to clean the area under that button. you need to also remove the while keypad membrane and clean under it as well

Bought a blackberry pearl flip off ebay, got it from hong kong, when i try to phone a number in my phone book it comes up +84 before number and then says cannot connect please help

Hi there, Open up the phone application, hit the blackberry button (to the left of the ball) and go to Options. From there, look for "smart dialing" - click on that one. In there, look for Conutry Code and Area code - make sure that area code is empty and the country code is the correct one for your country. The number length should also be changed to match. Hit the blackberry button again when done, and save. You should be all good now! Alex

FDN Fix Dial Numbers

Alright, this is because the center column on your Blackberry has somehow been disconnected from the processor. This can not be solved by you unless you want to take your Blackberry Pearl apart into many different pieces. Instead, if your phone is still under warranty, you should sent it in to be fixed.

What is the 123 symbol and why d

Usually the 123 means that you are in numeric mode on the keypad depending on what program you are on when using the phone. There should be a button on the phone to change the keypad mode from numbers to letters.

I can't dial out.

The Phone application on the BlackBerry smartphone automatically converts phone numbers that include letters into the associated numbers.
To key a phone number that contains letters, press the right Shift key or the Alt key and type. The letters appear on your screen, but the BlackBerry smartphone translates them into the appropriate numbers when the phone call is made.
For example, to call 1-877-BLK-BERR (1-877-255-2377) from your BlackBerry smartphone,
  1. Open the Phone application.
  2. Type 1877.
  3. Press and hold the Alt or right Shift key and type BLKBERR.
  4. Display the menu and select Call 1877BLKBERR or press Enter. When the phone number is dialed, the letters are converted to numbers on the screen.
  5. To end the phone call, hold down the Escape key.
To return to the Home screen from any other screen, press the End key.
To lock the device, set a password. Hold the * key.
To unlock the device, press the * key. Click Unlock. Type your password.
To lock the keyboard, hold the * key.
To unlock the keyboard, press the * key

To switch the input language, hold the Alt key and press the Enter key. Continue to hold the Alt key and select a language. Release the Alt key to switch to that language.
To switch back to your original input language, press the Alt key + the Enter key.

I hope this helps

Wrong number

Sounds like it is set for Smart Dialing, click the call buttong, then the menu button choose options and check the settings in smart dialing. It could be set for a different country, especially if you have been roaming recently

The phone dials numbers by itself i think it needs reprogramming

Blackberry pearl dials phone numbers on it's own.
I've taken out the battery for an extended time and when replaced, starts dialing numbers again.
How do I restart the phone to reset factory specs or what else can I do?
