Well depending upon the mixer and windows version you may have issues. Windows 8 is a 64bit platform, your mixer may only have 32bit drivers (x86). Try visiting the mackie forum for your mixer.

SOURCE: i have a mackie fx 8 mixer connected to two thump

Balanced audio interconnects (either XLR or TRS cables from the mixer and then balanced audio interconnects from the amp daisy chain inputs to the existing speaker inputs. If the amps do not have linked input jacks, then use TRS type WYE connectors at the inputs. Then use speaker rated cables from the amps to the passive speakers.

Firewire inputs do not work

Check in the computer "Device manager" if a PC with windows, and see if there are any devices with an yellow "X" through them- the port may have an interrupt conflict.

Then check audio properties of the system to make sure the devices are selected and enabled, and their volume level is up- even if you are operating through the Mackie software console.

If a Mac- check the Chooser to make sure that input device has been selected.

Hi im sorry if this sounds a little dumb!!! last weekend while i was on a gig i tried to hook up my lap top to my mackie mixer (cfx12) but i wasnt able to get winamp to play through it, which channels...

With a stereo splitter cable that takes the stereo 1/8 plug of the computer into two RCA plugs you could go into the "Tape Input" of the mixer... OR take a 1/8 stereo splitter cable from the PC splitting to a pair of 1/4 inch plugs go into one of the 4 stereo input pairs on the mixer... like 7 and 8 or 9 and 10 for example.

I need 2 channel (sliders) pots for my Mackie 1604 mixer, where can I get them

The best way is to contact Mackie support directly. They are extremely helpful. Please note that these units are not the easiest to access. Extreme care must be taken when dis-assembling them to prevent damage to the internal cables. The contact information is listed below. Just follow the link and either send an Email or call them directly. Also, have the serial number handy as there have been a few mods in the lifetime of the 1604 model

No volume control with 2 faders on Mackie CR1604 mixer

If all other functions work for those channels, the most likely problem is the fader itself. These can fail and operate more like switches rather than faders. Without witnessing the behavior, I can not state that for sure. While these mixers are not the hardest to work on, they are time consuming. The faders can be purchased from Mackie directly. If you need to have this repaired, any shop that repairs audio gear should be able to erpair this for you. Where are you located?
