To myself i seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebbles or a prettier shell than ordinary whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.

SOURCE: Pinnale Dazzle DVD recorder doesn't recognize VCR

On the start up of the instant DVD recorder program, you can either use the "let the wizard guide you" or "advance mode"

1. Select source:
you should select the options:

Video standard NTSC (Because this is the default in our region)
Video composite - if you are using RCA (red, yellow and white cables)
S-video - if you are using the cable with several pins in it.

2. Select Burner
You should select the options:
Hard disc folder - if you will be saving the content in your hard drive, the format of this files are DVD such as VOB and IFO etc.
TSST - _ _ _ _ - if you will selecting your DVD drive.

(If you have selected your DVD Burner and you cannot click "next" to proceed to the Third option,
this means that your DVD drive is not able to burn a DVD)

3. Select menus
It must be NO

4. Recording
select total recording time (make sure that dazzle is selected in the "select source" to set the total recording time)

Want to record VHS to DVD on my Toshiba DVR620KU but do not want to connect to my TV set. Is this possible? My TV is older and does not have the input/output jacks. I just want to put in a VHS tape and a...

If the entire VHS is full then you can easily transfer the VHS contents to the DVD. The video will play while it is recording onto the DVD, but you don't have to have it hooked up to any TV for it to record. Now if you don't know how long the VHS content is that you want to record to DVD, then you will have to hook up the player to a TV so that you can press stop when you reach the end of the content you want recorded. At least this is true in the way that I use to transfer VHS to DVD:

1) Turn on the unit
2) Insert VHS tape
3) Insert DVD-+R or DVD-+ RW
4) Using remote, press VCR
5)Using remote, press play then pause the tape where you want to start recording.
6)Using remote, press DVD
7) Using the remote, press DUBBING. The VHS should start to play and the DVD should start recording

When using this method, don't hit the RECORD button!

I hope this helps!

I have pinnacle dvd recorder, in step 1 i dont have the option to select dazzle dvd i only have pinnacle file capture therefore i cant get my vhs to transferr

Hi lloyd_kin466
I'm not familiar with Pinnacle stuff but in any capture software , you need to customize the capture options . Set the system to PAL or to NTSC , select the entry . If you are reading from a VHS device , select " composite " and not TV ... etc ... It should work unless your software hasn't been correctly installed or is not compatible with your OS .
Best regards ,

When transfering Hi8 and VHS film through Daxxle to my computer, the results are jerky -as if frames are being lost. I am importing them into Studion11 and it tells me that no frames have been dropped. ...

Video transfer is very memory and CPU intensive, you should check to make sure you have at least 2 Gb of RAM. Other culprits could be an older, slow CPU, or onboard or insufficient video card.
If you haven't already, you should test the output of your video by playing it on your pc, or making a test DVD and playing in a DVD player. If the video looks good, then the jerky playback on the pc doesn't really matter. If the video's bad, you should check the above possible reasons, also make sure your video drivers are updated, and that you have the most recent driver for the Pinnacle Dazzle.

I am running on a Dell XPS and my dazzle dvd recorder wont work.

Hi and Welcome to fixya!

I suggest to you to double click on Instant DVD Recorder Icon and choose go directly to Advance mode. Click next. On step number 1 click the pull down arrow and choose dazzle DVC 100. Click on options and choose video input. If your cable connection is the yellow red and white cable then choose Video composite, If S-video cable then choose Video S-video. If you have a VHS player click VHS input and click okay.
Next when everything is done turn your camcorder, vhs, vcr and then hit the play button.

That is the time that the video image is showing to the preview screen of the computer. Still not showing disconnect the dazzle device and place to another usb port.

If your dazzle device is not showing under step number one, you need to download and install the driver to Pinnacle Website.

Click on Start>Control panel>system>hardware>device manager>sound and video games controller> right click on video capture device and uninstall it. Restart your computer. Open your IDVDR then choose the advance mode, on step number 1 click the pull down arrow and then choose your dazzle device thing. Turn on the power of your VHS and then hit the play button check if the image transfer to the preview screen of your computer.

Losing Audio Halfway Through Recording

The audio failure sounds more like a VHS player failure than a DVD software/recorder failure. Both audio and video are transferred at the same time to the DVD, and as long as the DVD recorder is working, that's really all there is. I would check the VHS player and confirm that the sound actually works all the way through.
