Stays on for 2 seconds and switches off

Mitsubishi WS-65511 When I turn on the tv, the green light comes on for about 2 seconds and tv goes off. I hit the menu and input buttons for 10 seconds and get 2 flashes, pause, 2 flashes, pause, etc. about 10 times through cycle. Do you have the flashing light code list to indicate what the cause is?

A 2-2 code on that unit means over current shutdown. 95% of the time that code indicates defective convergence output IC's.

I have a Mitsubishi Model WS-65511 the green light on the front was flahing (would not stop) I replaced the 7 Capacitors as was suggested. The light flashed for a while then stopped and turned green

I think I advised you before (on this page you will find a "make a comment button" which allows follow up questions and answers without posting another question.

Green power light now comes on and goes out in few seconds:

On front of set (not the remote) press and hold when that happens both the menu and input buttons for at least 5 seconds and release both.

Power light will blink a 2 digit code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, pause and repeat that several times---this is an error code---let me know what code you find.

Note: if you have unplugged the set it clears the error codes and you have to plug back and try to turn set on--let it fail and repeat the self check.

Tv switch on and off when press power button

IF power light comes on for a moment and then goes off:

Mitsubishi self check: MOST OF THESE SETS HAVE A SELF DIAGNOSTIC:

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ONFOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD "device" and "menu"buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protectthe Convergence IC or IC's is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergenceIC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES ANDTHEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOUHAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY
CONVERGENCE CIRCUIT PROBLEM

let me know what you find--hope that you find 2 blinks, a pause and twoblinks--this is the most common and easiest to fix.

Mitsubishi ws-65511 tv won't turn on

If the green power light on the front comes on for a second or two and goes out: Press and hold both the menu and input buttons on the front of the set for at least 5 seconds and release both. Power light will blink a two digit error code: 2 blinks, 2 blinks, pause and it will repeat several times. Let me know if you find a error code and I will tell you what it means. IF this information was something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free. SD TECH

My Mitsu WS-65511 will not power on. When power is pressed on tv or on remove solid green light comes on for a moment as if television is going to come on and then it just shuts back off. I have tried...

I have had my WS-65511 fail like this, first at 4 years, second 2 weeks later, then 3rd time yesterday (4/14/2009). In past, the tech replaced a thermal sensor p/n 299P313010A (but Mitsubishi says that part is not for WS-65511 and that it does not have a thermal sensor - go figure). It is a white rectangle with about 30 pins in 2 rows and is soldered onto a board in the TV. List price is about $25.
