SOURCE: VCR tape won't eject

The flap on the door stays open until the tape is ejected. There are two possible ways to remove the tape. First, with the power off, try to locate the drive pulley or gear on the side of the tape housing. It may be possible to turn it with your finger and cause the tape to eject. The eject mechanism will move VERY slowly when you use this technique.

The second way to do it should normally be done by an experienced technician, because it involves taking it even farther apart...and it may be difficult to reassemble. There are typically four screws that hold the tape mechanism in place...two near the top front and two near the back. It should be possible to remove those screws and pull the entire mechanism out of the VCR. Then you can more easily rotate the eject pulley (or gear) and remove the tape. If this sounds a little scary, I would definitely recommend placing the top back on and acting like nothing happened!

SOURCE: How can I view hi8 video tapes on my VCR My HI 8

VHS units are not capable of reading Hi8 video. You could have a shop transfer your recordings for a nominal service charge but if you have many tapes you may want to have your own unit repaired. You could purchase another unit second hand but be wary of doing so as the tracking could be slightly different to your own one and you would need a service centre to adjust it anyway. Best of luck!

VCR Model Panasonic NV-J45:- Until just yesterday, it worked fine, only last night I tried to play a tape, the green auto-tracking light flashed a few times as usual, then the tape just kept stopping, no...

The problem is caused by the idler assembly which controls play, record, rewind, and fast forward. If the take up reel stops, the vcr senses a problem and will stop the tape. The only other thing it can be is the drive belt, sometimes it will stretch and fall off or break. I suggest a tv technician or somebody that knows their way around a machine.

I bought a panasonic cassette adaptor for my vhs-c tapes . it says svhs adaptor on the front of the box .will the ordinary vhs-c tapes fit in it and does the door open on the front or is it loaded from the...

You don't specify the adapter you have, but most load from the top. The main thing here is that VHS and VHS-C are both the same size of tape. Whether they are recorded in SVHS mode or not will not affect the adapter, just whether or not you get a picture. Theadapter only allows you to put a compact cassette (VHS-C) into a standard VHS VCR. The adapter will require batteries to allow it to place the VHS-C cassette tape into the proper position for use in the VCR.

Tape is stuck in VCR. I turn on the power and hit eject and it shuts off. Took the cover off but do not see a simple solution.

I am sorry that I do not have a technical solution for a problem like this one. I can tell you what my father did that worked for him. My father turned his vcr upside down and took a butter knife with a smooth blade and wiggled and manipulated the vhs tape until it popped out.

I put a tape in and I hear a loud clicking noise and the VCR doesn't play the tape and turns itself off after 8-10 seconds.

first, try another tape. if it does the same thing the vcr is out of alignment. many times a broken lever inside the vhs tape can cause the vcr to shut down.

VCR acting strange with audio and playing

It sounds like the audio control head is at fault.
If all prerecorded tapes (movies) play with audio level jumping up and down, is is likely that the audio head is dirty. The audio head in the VCR looks very similar to a head of an old audio cassette player.
First, try to clean the audio head by running a VHS head cleanning tape. The cleanning tape will usually clean the path of all tape mechanisms..

Go to: http://www.diyvcrparts.com/cgi-bin/web_store/web_store.cgi Check out your chassis by the model number. or like always call for service. Good luck!
