Line appears on copies when using the automatic feeder.

When using the Canon ImageCLASS D860 copier, if you copy using the automatic feeder tray, a line appears all the way down on the right side of the copies.
When making a copy manually by laying the paper down on the glass plate, no line appears on the copies.

You have a piece of dirt or whiteout on the scanner glass. When the paper is moving by, it creates a "Line" if the paper is sitting still on the glass, it may be a dot or it may even use a different glass alltogether for ADF vs Paltten scanning.

Roller marks on copies. I ran the cleaning menu and it asks me to open the ADF to clean the rollers.. How do you do that and where is it.

The adf is the automatic document feeder and its located on top of the machine. use a clothe with 409, simple green or water and look in where you put your copies to be copied. You will see 2 grey rollers. wipe them off. NO alcohol Also are the marks on the docs you are running through the adf or comming out of the copier. Steven 818-888-0006

ADF has something on it causing a stripe on all copies

Lift the document feeder and clean the narrow glass, (next to the glass where you place your originals). Documents are scanned across this glass when automatic feeder is used, thus a small piece of dirt becomes a line down the page.

Lines on copies

The lines are caused by some debris that is on the platen (the glass where you normally place the copies). The usual culprit is white-out smudges from a copy that wasn't completely dried yet. When you make copies using the feeder, the roller passes the paper being copied over a little section of the platen (if you pull up the feeder "lid", it'll be on the right-hand side of the big glass... it might even be marked with 2 green arrow stickers, but if not, it's the part of the glass directly under the roller of the feeder). You can just take an alcohol wipe or soak a cotton ball with alcohol or windex and wipe down that strip of glass under the roller.
