Poor print quality....bad fuser???

Left side of page is dark and fades to a mirrored image on the right with identical results on the back of the page. I've replaced the drum and toner cartridge, ensured the corona wire is clean, wiped down the inside of the printer, and i'm using the recommended paper. The printer was moved recently and never had problems before. All components are at %88 or higher. I fear that the fuser has been damaged or may need to be reseated but unsure what to do next.

Is the toner sticking to the paper? This could produce double images (but not mirrored) More likely a problem with a mirror in the write unit out of place, which could create "mirror" image and poor quality.

Why does my 6280 separate one image into two and print it?

Poor fusing of the toner onto the paper is caused by

1. Poor quality compatible/remanufactured toner cartridges that have the wrong toner in them. - Use OEM, or better quality independent toners (and complain to your current supplier about the ones you have)

2. Damp media - high moisture content in the paper prevents correct fusing. You'll probably see the paper 'steaming' as it comes out if this is the case. - Keep your paper dry, only load as much as you need.

3. Thicker than normal media. The thicker the paper, the longer/more heat it takes to fuse the toner. - Make sure you have the correct paper type set in the printer driver at print time.

4. Faulty fuser. Normally the printer will report if the fuser is not reaching the correct temperature, but there are instances when this does not happen. Also it is possible for the fuser heat lamp to blacken partially, resulting in an area of the fuser that does not reach the correct temperature. This problem will affect an area of the page which consistently (same place, and all the way down the page) shows poor fusing. - Replace the fuser.

Print quality: dark faded, but continuous

Open top cover and remove toner, shake toner cartridge and try a test print. IF image good then problem is low toner level in cartridge.

2600n faded print on both left and right side.(word doc, no images) not using color black print only.

Is the cartridge an original HP or an inexpensive compatible? The black cartridge could be out of toner. Not a common defect for the Q6000A cartridge though. If it is a poor quality compatible the defect may be the result of a misaligned internal component. Either way replacing the black cartridge should resolve the issue.

Lexmark t520 suddenly prints poor quality, i.e. the previous page prints softly onto the next page and the right side of the page (2" from right) is streaked with toner. Please help. TIA, Mike

this sounds like you have a fuser problem look at the fuser and see if it has toner build up on the rollers ghost printing can be caused by the toner cartridge or the fuser. this would indicate that your fuser isnt maintaining enough heat for complete fusing. is you take the rear covers off and run your print job. look to the far left side of the fuser and you will see the heat lamp lit up. this light should cycle on every 1 1/2 pages or so. any longer than that and it wont keep up with the print job

Poor, faded print quality on left and right sides of paper

Have you check the teflon at the heater? have you clean the reflector of laser? Try that.

Print fading down right hand side

I was able to fix it by taking off the top of the printer. This involved taking off 4 screws on the top of the printer. I then had to disconnect the wires going to the control panel by unhooking them from the right side. I then located a thin rectangular box which I'm assuming houses the laser. I removed this with 4 more screws and turned it over. There was a little metal flap that I moved back and below was the mirror the lasers shoot on before going onto the toner.

In the same spot where I was having fading, I noticed a lot of toner on the mirror, so I cleaned it of, put it back together, and the fading was gone.

This was after I tried a new toner and maintenance kit.

Hope this helps
