Copier have grey background and very slow copying epson XP400

When scanning/copying make sure you close the lid and if you are still getting the grey edges place a heavy book on top of the lid as it sounds like there is light getting onto the scan plate. Also make sure there is no cleaning residue on the glass plate as it needs to be kept clean.

check printer settings or document settings back ground color settings
you can print a page color to any of the color bar settings so there is a setting that has been change to grey that is causing the problem

If it's an Epson xp400 it is compatible with an Iphone using Airprint. About AirPrint Apple Support

The developer should have been replaced by the technician. the solution is simple...replace the drum and developer and you will have nice crisp prints and copies.

There really is not a service mode for this copier. Have you tried to adjust the flush knob on the control panel? The copier is kind of old, when you **** shell it open is there a black small knob on the inside front of the copier.... If so adjust that... Also, I would try to clean the optic's of the copier under the copy board glass. There is a "VR" on the back of the copier to adjust the lamp. Finally, have you replaced the drum unit???? Good Luck

Is the paper a shade of grey with no image? or is there an image with a grey background?
If there is a image with a grey background you should try a new toner module. If that doesn't resolve the issue, clean the xerographic drum, make 10 blank copies, if the cleaning doesn't resolve the issue than install a new xerographic module.

If the background color is light (yellow for example) you can probably play with the contrast and density settings to make it better, but otherwise you can't, unfortunately.

U need to check your developer material. How many copiers has been made?

U can also perform 05-200 for the auto toner adjustment. The value should be in the range of 235-245% ( 2.35v - 2.45v )

If there is a problem with the light from the copier, i suggest you have it check or service since epson printers are hard to open, if within warranty, try calling epson for replacement. you have a one year warranty for the printer.

If you are getting a grey back ground, this means you have the wrong setting- the scanner is seeing a 'photo' image. look at your controls for TEXT or LINE
