Whirlpool freezer display flashing 1

Please help!! My freezer has been working perfectly apart from the door occasionally not shutting properly which I'm warned about by the alarm when the temperature rises. However today, with no warning, when I went to take something out of the freezer I noticed that the display was not showing the temperature; it was just a single green illuminated dot. The freezer was still quite cold but I don't know what the temperature was and the food seemed ok apart from the ice cream which I threw away as it was a bit soft. I tried turning the freezer off and on and now have a flashing red number 1. It has been like this for about an hour and hasn't changed. I don't know what the temperature is or what is happening or what to do. Any ideas please? many thanks Rachel

Hi Rachel
For your door to close properly take off the gasket from your fridge and wash it with hot water. It will be softer and stick to the fridge much easier.

SOURCE: Alarm Flashing Red & Bleeping

Did the RCD tripping have anything to do with the freezer? You could have a faulty defrost heater, which means the freezer will not defrost at all.

SOURCE: I have a whirlpool freezer, the red light on the

The light is there to indicate there is power. If it is running constantly and still not cooling properly there is a problem in the sealed system (or the door is not sealed completely, but there would be a lot of frost were this the case. Here is a link to where you can find the manual with a complete model number.

SOURCE: Red and Orange light staying on on my whirlpool chest freezer

try a total defrost,to clear any internal ice(every 12 months)then switch on and if you have a rapid freeze button leave on for 24 hours to get back to normal operating temp.if you have hard ice around the door seals then you have an air leak which you must sort out(try using a hot cloth to warm seals back into shape.....seals should fit all round, all the time.

Door ajar keeps flashing evan though the door is close

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand the door ajar light keeps flashing even though the door is closed on your Frigidaire freezer, model# FFU17K1CW. Please try resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Restore power. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. If further troubleshooting is needed, please leave the model number of your appliance. Hope this is helpful.

Freezer not cold. Can't get to coils to see if they are frozen.

Hi grammycather, thank you for allowing me to assist you. Here are a few simple troubleshooting tips that may help you resolve this issue:

First check clearances around your freezer. There must be adequate space around a freezer with a static condenser so that air can circulate properly. Proper clearances include 1" at the back and 3" on top of the unit.

Examine your doors. If the doors have been opened too often or for too long, this may have allowed warm air to enter the appliance. Make sure to shut the door completely and be sure not to keep the door open for too long. Even leaving a door slightly open can allow too much warm air intake. Make sure freezer is level and keep food and containers from blocking the door closing.

Check the door seal. You do this by placing a dollar bill between the body of the freezer and close the door. The dollar bill should stay in place and pull out with a small amount of resistance. If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet, double check to see if the door is being blocked by anything that may be stopping it from closing. If nothing is stopping the door from closing then refer to a tech to replace the gasket.

Check to see if the condenser is dirty. A dirty condenser cannot release heat efficiently into the surrounding air. Cleaning the condenser may be necessary, more if you have animals in the house. If you have condenser coils, they should be wiped occasionally with a damp cloth to remove accumulated dust. The condenser coils should be wiped occasionally with a damp cloth to remove accumulated dust.

Check for any obstructions to the vent to ensure proper air flow. If the vent is blocked, the air in the freezer will not get cool.

I suggest to double check the freezer control. If the freezer control is set too warm, set freezer control to a colder setting and allow 24 hours for temperature to stabilize.

If these assessment measures prove to be ineffective, I would strongly suggest contacting an authorized service technician who would be better able to assist you in the diagnosis and repair of your unit. You can often locate an experienced technician in your area by going to the manufacturer website.

Hello Michael - Sounds like the temperature control was accidently turned OFF. When this occurs the temperature control turns off the compressor, but does not disconnect the power to the light bulb or other electronics. Let's try activating the freezer by pressing the UP arrow until display shows "4" or desired setting. Allow 24 hours for temperature to stabilize. For future reference you can lock the control to keep from accidently changing the temperature setting. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if the unit's status has changed successfully. Thank you.

Frigidaire freezer LFFU14F5HWN fan not running or cooling

If the dollar bill falls out when placed between the gasket and cabinet, double check to see if the door is being blocked by anything that may be stopping it from closing. If nothing is stopping the door from closing then replace the gasket. (Most appliance owners can easily do this without any tools or sealant.)

My new frigidaire freezer the digital display on outside of door flashes off what to do?

Hello - Typically "OF" indicates that the freezer is turn off. To activate freezer, press UP three times until display shows "1" then press UP to desired setting. If it will not allow you to change setting and freezer continues to be off, try resetting the freezer by unplugging it or flipping the breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn it on. If "OF" continues to display, the unit could possibly have a communication problem with the electronic control assembly. Contact a professional to move forward accurately.

The red light is on my freezer also the green one the door has not been left open can you help

This means the sensor has determined that the temperature is rising. This can happen if the door was left open (which doesn't appear to be the case with your green light) or an unusual amount of warm food was put into it. If this is not the case you may have a cooling problem. If you can put a thermometer in there and check the temperature, working properly the freezer should be around 0 F. If you have trouble please send the model number from the tag on the freezer. That will help with trouble shooting.

Freezer door won't close at top

If you are careful, open the door 90 degrees and place your leg against the bottom corner inside of the open door and your hand at the top corner, then GENTLY push inward. You should be able to feel and see the move or twist. Then close the door to test for proper sealing. Another way to adjust the door is to loosen the screws behind the door seal and twist, but this usually unnecessary if you do the leg trick properly.
Below is a link that will help you with parts and diagnostic procedures that are specifically tuned to your manufacturers data plate information.

Whirlpool upright freezer AFG823NF-Thermostat not working properly

JennyT just trying to help with this. I assume this is a self defrost model. If so then is there an ice build up on the back wall? If so then the unit isn't defrosting. That is why pushing the Fast Freeze button is no longer working. You can get by however. Remove all the food from the freezer, put a vacumn in the freezer and shut the door. Turn on the vacumn, this will pull the warm air thru the freezer and in 30 minutes to an hour it will be defrosted enough to work until you can get someone to replace the 1 of 3 parts that the defrost system uses. The vacumn is what I use to defrost my nonself defrosting freezer. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
