Ive got a Compaq Presario and my HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T20N ATA Device will not read any discs and has a error code 45

Maybe your ODD has a problem. try cleaning your CD first, then, check your drive. if it doesn't work, contact HP

I got the fix from Microsoft and run the exe to fix the "upper" something and after that it can see the CD/DVD drive. I think it is a Windows bug. Not a hardware failure. (Cost me a trip to local store)

Try running System Restore to a day just before this failed. It's a software issue according to other forum posts elsewhere.

I read over the solution to the problem by deleting the lower keys in the registry,,restarted and it works fine again,,thank you.
The 1st time I tried it, there was now upper or lower keys because i had uninstalled the driver 1st.
