SOURCE: film advance lever stuck

This sounds like shutter release problem and can be fixed by replacing a 3v 220 mf capacitor ( leaking by now because they do not last more than 8-10 years and your camera is 25 years old ). You can do it your -self but will need a soldering iron and a replacement capacitor : remove bottom cover and locate small ( usually black in colour ) capacitor on the right hand side of the camera. Unsolder -- keeping an eye on polarity which is marked on the outside of the capacitor-- and replace with new one. Switch camera on and it should release the shutter and you are back in the saddle.

SOURCE: The film advance lever is stuck on my minolta

Here are the most likely:
A. Lever will not move on some models if the shutter is already cocked. If the shutter is cocked, and will not release with new batteries INSERTED CORRECTLY, then the most likely is this...
Two capacitors in these Minoltas die over time. If you are handy at such things, you can buy the caps, remove top and bottom covers, remove the dead caps and solder in the new ones. Don't Panic.
You can find instructions on the web for this well known issue, and you can also opt to send it to a camera repair place. Garrys camera repair in Niles, ILL does it for about $58 incl return shipping. He will also clean, lube and adjust it for ya. Something they all need eventually.

SOURCE: Film Advance levar wont work. Milnolta x-700

The Minolta X-series (X-300/370, X-570, X-700) were known for this issue. Two capacitors under the top and bottom covers go bad over time. They prevent the shutter from releasing, so you cannot wind to re-**** the shutter. If you're handy at these things, you can buy the caps, remove the covers, solder in the new caps, and be fine. This issue is well known and you can find instructions on the web. Or you can send it in for repair. Garry's Camera repair in Niles,ILL will do it cheaply at $58 incl return postage. Look him up on the web.

SOURCE: film advance lever goes back and forth putting no

first make sure the rewind button is not stuck down. open the back door and rotate the advance sprocket back and forth to release the button. if that did not work take the bottom cover off and check the white plastic gear near the take up shaft. if that gear broke it will have to be repaired by a camera repair person.
there are no new parts for this model so get a cost estimate first.

Minolta 700 film advance lever was working, then it wouldnt wind, now it is stuck.

Use or buy a brand new battery from store that sell lot of them.

Do not get from store that only has a few, meaning they have been sitting there for years.

Film Advance won't work on Minolta X-700

changing the batteries have no effect on film transport, just a coincidence. take the bottom cover off and check the white plastic gear on the film take up side of the camera. if it is broken your X700 may not be repairable as no new parts are available.
push the re-wind button in and try to charge the shutter again. remove film first. if it still just goes part way then a gear is stripped. try to find a camera repair shop that may have good used parts available.

My daughter just got a used Minolta 700-X. We are trying to load the film, but the advance lever won't advance to load the film after we put it in. Can you help?

Are the batteries good ,is the battery cap and contacts clean? Can you fire the shutter? Move select off auto and try to release the shutter. If the shutter fired off auto and will not fire on auto with good batteries. Either the shutter or flex circuit must be replaced. There are no new parts avail. for the X700.
One other item for the X700. check to see if the shutter fully traveled on the last shot.

MINOLTA XG-1 & XG-9

If everything lights in the camera when you test it ,it means the battery is alright, try this trick"Rotate the film advance connection at the bottom of your camera using a nickle (not the battery compartment) the one directly at the bottom of the shutter and should click if there's not you have some bigger problem.Good luck.

35 mm, Minolta X700

Is the re-wind button stuck in? If so it can be released by moving the take-up sprocket manually. If that did not work there is a broken take up gear. This was a common problem with the X700, a white plastic gear was used at the bottom of the take up spool mechanism that just was not strong enough especially when trying to get just one more shot from the roll of film. No new parts are available.

Minolta X370 film loading problem.

First make sure your batteries are OK , camera will not work without two 1.5 v batteries. If your camera still doesnt work this is probably  because the shutter is cocked but you cannot release the shutter and that is why you cannot advance the transport mechanism. The shutter release mechanism needs repairing first. SREMEDY : take bottom cover off ( 4 screws ) and locate 220 mf 6v capacitor ( it is the only one in this part of the camera , cant miss it ). Replace the capacitor while you keep an eye on the polarity ( indicated on the casing of the capacitor ) and you camera should work fine ( dont forget camera needs  two 1.5v  batteries to work ! )
