try to replace the keypad membrane or just clean the terminal

take the phone to a mobile repair shop and have it check the keyboard cable may not be connect properly or resting on the board properly.

ANd the keypad works fine now.

Yes, both the external keypad and the PCB assembly are relaceable. Here is one that I found online for $59 and change. http://www.cellulardr.com/0171038A01.htm . If you visit some other online resources you may find an instructional video on how to replace the PCB assembly and the tools required. Hope that helps.
