If you see no removable panel inside the cavity, it will be necessary to remove the housing to replace the bulb. Because of the nature of microwave energy, the fewer sharp edges and other irregularities in the cavity, the happier the magnetron is since all those have some effect on the distribution of the energy and efficiency of the unit. That's why one should avoid having any larger metallic container in a microwave.
