the tv is likely to be generic in nature i.e. parts used by many manufacturers. if you knew what tv builder actually designed it you could find the code. does the remote have a search feature if so use it, it should find something that operates most tv functions eventually
Difficult or impossible----Sony and Mitsubishi have less than 5 common codes but Philips who is Sylvania at last count had over 30 and some units with their name are made by other companies and will each have a different and non Philips codes----the comcast remote does not have that many codes for this purpose.
I have the same issue. I've tried every version of Comcast box there is available. Nothing. Next I'm trying taping off the Sylvania IR and running the volume through an old receiver I have. That is, of course, that there isn't a solution posted here first. Will report back later.
I called Comcast and they had no clue. But I called Sylvania and their
reps were FABULOUS!!! Turns out, the TV makers send the cable companies
the frequencies for each TV then the cable companies send them to a 3rd
party to get the codes written.
This model of TV is new and there is no code written. The rep suggested
that we countinue to check back on the Comcast website regularly to see
if the code is posted. She said that the sales reps tend to get the
info last.
The Sylvania rep anticipates a new code written soon because this is such a prevelant problem.
This may not directly solve your problem since I called Comcast but it seems that the code is not created. Here is my answer -

I have a 26" GFM DVD/TV combo (v7tvdvd26) and used the LG codes listed for my cable box remote. I went through about 3 LG codes until I found one that works.
I've also read that Goldstar and Funai codes might work with GFM.
