Craftsman compressor

Prior to starting the unit. Look at the pressure gauge. 1. Make sure the regulator is set to the desired PSI. 2. Make sure the unit is connected to an AC circuit that is required to support this machine. If you have high end AC outlets that are intended for a low power i.e. 10 AMP and you connect this unit to the circuit it may disconnect. So try an outlet on the outside of the house intended for higher amperage machines like those used outdoors.

The problem may be with the power source. Check that first.

Now for the unit itself. 1. Connect the unit and set the pressure regulator to max pressure. 2. Turn the unit to Auto/On the unit should only run until the pressure is reached. 3. Connect a pneumatic tool to the unit and drain off pressure. Once the pressure gauge drops below the set value the unit should start again. If not then you need to take the unit to a certified service center to have the regulator checked.

How to replace regulator on husky air scout model 41004

On my air scout the regulator cap, which is threaded to receive the bolt attached to the regulator knob was stripped. It's cheapo metal. I removed that and the knob (which is held onto the bolt with a smaller reverse-threaded screw, and replaced the cap using a larger diameter bolt I place of the knob. Works.

Craftsman air compressor wont build presure

Broken reed valves- assuming the regulator is adjusted to maximum air pressure.

These are located on the face of the pistons and require partial disassembly of the compressor head to serivce.

When installing the new ones, add a drop of light duty thread locking compound to the threads to insure the screws do not fall out in use.

26 gallon model 919.167700 160 psi 1.6 hp Bottom of the compressor has a threaded air relief valve that cannot stop the compressed air from escaping. The compressor is new?! I tried using teflon tape...

if it's leaking from the center ,try loosening it let air blow out & tigthen .--- if it's leaking from the theads try tigthening it some more without breakage //////// this valve is the same as a metal radiator petcock with pipe threads that are tappered // return the compressor if still under warranty or try pipe dope -- check for crossed threads--buy new petcock from auto parts store .....a street elbow & 4'' of pipe & quarter turn vavle from the home depot ( or similer supply store ) works nicley as a replacement / this way you can reach the valve to drain the water with out laying on the ground.--------------1/4 pipe thread i think .

I am replacing the cylinder sleeve and compression ring on my Craftsman air compressor model 919165020. Searspartsdirect says that I need two compression rings. Is this right? My compressor only had one...

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Craftsman-Parts/Air-compressor-Parts/Model-919165020/0247/0703000 This is the exploded view that I used.

67 head 65 gasket 64 reed valve plate 63 ring, this one goes under the reed valve plate 62 screw that goes thru the 61 piston 60is a ring that sets on the top of the connecting rod screw the piston with the ring into the top of the connecting rod then take the connecting rod end cap off and cover the studs with some rubber tubing. This will protect the crankshaft when you push connecting rod and piston assembly in to the sleeve that is seated in the block. The ring should be flexible enough to push into the sleeve,if not a bit of oil should help.Guide the connecting rod on to the the crank shaft.I hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.com

3gal. aircompressor - craftsman model #921153101

This problem is not uncommon with small compressors and the inexpensive plastic regulators they use nowadays. The one surefire way to stop it is ti install in in-line valve before the regulator outlet, even if it involves the double ended & threaded brass soupler so they both fit on. This way you can just turn the handles across the line effectively shutting off air flow. I have two pancake compressors and ended up doing the very thing.

Then when time comes to hook up a hose and tool, just switch the handle back and you have air.
