SOURCE: WATER DOES NOT DISPENSE FROM DOOR

Sounds like the water solenoid valve poppet is sticking in the closed position. You will need to replace the assembly. It is located behind the fridge at the lower corner.

Check your user manual for an over flow safety setting. it isn't uncommon on water dispensing refrigerators to limit the amount of eater dispensed at one time to prevent a stuck dispensing valve from allowing water to continuously run out all over the floor

My water dispenser in my GE Adora stainless side by side refrigerator is not working

Water dispenser doesn't work
  1. Dispenser control board
If the water dispenser is not functioning at all the most likely cause is going to be the dispenser control board. The dispenser control board governs the major portion of the systematic functions of the dispenser and is less likely to be the issue if only certain components are malfunctioning. If the dispenser control board is at fault, it will need to be replaced.
  1. Water inlet valve & low water pressure from house supply
If the water dispenser on your refrigerator is not working properly, one of the first things to consider as an issue is the water pressure to your appliance. The water dispenser cannot properly function with a psi less than 20. If psi is appropriate, proceed to replace the water inlet valve to correct the issue. You may also be dealing with low household water pressure. This low flow can be examined by using a water pressure test gauge. Once the household water pressure is resolved, you can double check your refrigerator connection to ensure it is now flowing properly and that the water dispenser is functioning.
  1. Water tube in door is frozen
If the water dispenser is not working on your refrigerator, the issue could be a frozen water supply tube located in the door. Although this may be a tricky problem to locate, the first thing to do is find a connection point in the tube. After this has been found, attempt to blow air through the tube. If the air flows freely through the tube, it is not frozen and this is not the issue. If it does not, the tube is frozen and needs to be removed to thaw out. As it thaws, attempt to ascertain why it froze and correct the positioning of the tubing to prevent the issue from occurring again in the future.
  1. Dispenser switch
If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working properly you could be dealing with a defective dispenser switch. Activated by the dispenser actuator, the switches are responsible for numerous actions including ice cube disbursement, type of ice, and water controls. The switch can be tested using an ohm meter and should be replaced if it does not reveal continuity.
  1. Water filter
If your water dispenser's flow is running slow check to ensure that your water filter is not clogged. If after checking you determine that the filter is clogged, simply replace the filter. Filters should be replaced every six months to ensure clean drinking water.
  1. Door switch
If the refrigerator water dispenser is not working, the functionality of the door switch can be inspected. This switch is responsible for turning on the light in the freezer and simultaneously turning off the water dispenser when the freezer door is opened. If this switch malfunctions, it will show no continuity on the ohm meter and will require replacement.

Water dispenser not working

I have a Hitachi R-M800GM.

When i operate the water dispenser, water flows out from the dispenser [not strong flow]. There is also water flowing out at the bottom of the freezer door [hinge area]

I think the line running inside the freezer door may have come loose? If so, how to reattach it? Do u have any layout drawings of how the hose is being connected.

Please help.

Thanks,

Rick

Won't dispense water from freezer door - ice maker works fine.

I'd wager that the water line inside the freezer door is frozen keeping water from flowing.

Here's how to test my theory; Open up both doors and remove the "kick panel" (it's just snapped into place, so just pull on it). After that's done, look below the bottom freezer door hinge... you'll see the water tube there. Now, about 4" to the right of the hinge, you'll see a tubing coupler there. Disconnect (unscrew) it. OK, now just reach up there and depress the chilled water dispenser (like your gonna fill a glass). Did water come out of the tube near the floor? If so... the tube in the door is frozen.

The only fix for this is to completely defrost the fridge. (As in, unplug it for at least 24 hours) The reason is because there is no way to access the tube in the door... it's "foamed" in place and not serviceable.

I've heard of a trick you can employ after it de-ices to keep it from happening again. (Note, that I've never used this trick, but heard that it works, OK?) Alrighty then... when it's completely thawed and water is flowing like it should, cut yourself a piece of plastic cord (like weed-eater string but small) about 18"-24" long. Then you take this cord and feed it through the tube where the chilled water comes out of the dispenser. Feed it down the tube almost all the way leaving about an inch or so hanging out of the water dispenser.

OK... here's what is supposed to happen; If it ever freezes shut again, all you have to do is pull that string outta there. This will allow water to flow again. Then all you have to do is grab a huge cup (like a "big gulp") and fill it up. The water flowing through there will thaw out the frozen stuff and clear the line. After it runs free and clear again, just replace the cord and wait for it to freeze again.

Hope this helps! Let me know by rating this solution as "it solved my problem", will ya? Thanks!

GE GSH22SGRE - water dispenser not working but ice cube maker working fine

I fixed mine by leaving the light on the dispenser on. It took about 6 hrs, but the little heat from the light bulb was enough to defrost the water line.
