Where on the menu button do i have to change to enable me to see how many photos i have taken

Most cameras have a number displayed that tells you how many shots you have left.
If you make a note of how many that size of memory card gives you, you can subtract the number displayed, and this will tell you how many you have taken. I believe in lots of memory cards, of the biggest size that the camera will recognize - like a 2gb card in my Nikon P7100 shows 334 which is enough for any one day's shooting ( and I know that there are maybe 6 shots on the card).
you can also press the view picures button (like a right arrow) and come down till you get a set pf thumbnails (press the zoom lever to wide angle) and count the shots.

DSC-W55 movie camera video display problem

Your quality setting is probably set to the E-Mail quality. This makes the video low quality and tiny.

Just press the button that you use to delete pictures with the regular screen on and change the image quality.
